looking for 1080p TN/IPS 240hz-280hz for Apex (tested many)

Post by niros » 05 Jan 2023, 02:52

Yo,
Pc specs: 3070,12700k,32gb ddr4
Monitor I tried in the past: xg2401 benq(dead sadly), xl2540k, xg270, omen x25, xg27aqm, aw2523hf

Some info:
I mainly play Apex legends and dont care much about other games or doing other stuff on Pc

Xl2540k - even when downloaded apex profile this monitor felt medicore for me and clarity was medicore at best.

Xg270- 1080p at 27 and ips colors felt crap, I teied strobe but the brightness was too low and when I forced my self to try it. I didn't see any advantage in apex. Felt kinda crap

Omen x25 - probably was my best monitor in terms of speed and clarity and I sold it to "upgrade" and try new models

Xg27aqm- I really liked the speed and 1440p and felt apex is very clear but I also felt I had no consist results because i couldn't maintain the fps

Lastly aw2523hf - feels like shit no matter which settings I use

I kinda feel like IPS colors feel bad for me in Apex and cause me eye strain but also less clarity and enemies blend and hard to see

So right now I'm in the market for my end game and I have few things in mind

1. Going back to x25 as they are available in my country, horrible stabd and ergo but It felt the best for me!

2.xg2431 - people praise it but will I enjoy the strobing with low nits? I doubt it

3.xl2546k - seems to be the most used monitor even in apex. I never tried Dyac..

4.aoc 24g2ze - is it even worth? Available in my country but expansive

5.old panel asus like vg258qm - praised here and cheap on amazon

6.dell s2522hg - Will I even like it if I hate my aw2523hf?

I believe I enjoy TN more as its easier for my eyes
I know xl2566s is the best Tn but out of my budget

I just want to keep it simple and get a monitor that I can set and forget about and enjoy in Apex

Please advise all the gods of this forum
Aarox, avi and the others I forgot!

I used a VG259QM (IPS) for a couple years playing Apex, its a great monitor. The TN version (VG258QM) likely very similar. I too get eye strain from IPS, but I can play Apex for 4 hours straight and be fine on the VG259QM, however when being in windows browsing internet or whatever I would get eye strain like within an hour. I always had to use Windows Night Light when out of game and that helped. On my old TN panel (Asus 165 Hz) I never got eye strain playing 12 hours straight.

I play a lot of valorant/cs/apex and I went with
Acer AOPEN 25XV2Q Fbmiiprx 24.5" Full HD (1920 x 1080) 390Hz

I am absolutely thrilled with this monitor!

I notice the price is now $450... I paid $299 I should have bought 2... Or 3? :)

I have had X25 f, XL2546K, VG259QM and I pick VG258QM 280hz TN over them all if using without strobing (I cant because of eyestrain). Just one more option.

Viewing angles are also very good on my unit, hard to believe its TN. Monitor is light weight but construction is good, im using monitor arm and when i adjust height or something, it hardly makes any squeaking noises or anything compared to some "premium" models.

Edit. Just saw you ordered it already

I wont use strobing because of the low brightness.
And yeah I already ordered the VG258QM and amazon already shipped it ( now it's the waiting game ^^ )

I will update when I get the monitor

Im still testing it so give me few more days
Im waiting to try 120OD without elmb
So far it's on par with my omen x25 maybe better!

Need to test more!

All I can say so far 200% that the vg258qm tn 10times better than my previous 360hz alienware dell
