Best e-sports monitor? (1080p)

Post by whitebox » 10 Feb 2023, 10:44

Hello everyone,

I changed my setup recently, Im running i5 12600KF + 3070Ti + Zowie XL2411P (144Hz - TN)

I mainly play Apex Legends, Overwatch 2 and Warzone

I was wondering if upgrading to any 240Hz monitor will give me a competitive advantage over the Zowie XL2411P I currently have (motion clarity is a big deal for Apex)

Zowie's 240hz monitor should be good, but since it's been so many years since it was released I wonder if it's still the best e-sports monitor for 240hz, or if there are better alternatives.

I play at 1080p, and I don't want 4k or 2k. I just want the best motion performance and clarity for e-sports possible.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Aopen/Acer 390hz coming from a cs/valorant/apex player. The price-performance value far exceeds the others that are far more expensive 360hz monitors..

If value isn't an issue... People will say the zowie is the top, however I can't possibly see those minor differences in games. Good luck!

I upgraded my XL2546K to a XL2566K
The XL2566K has less inputlag. But if inputlag is not a huge huge factor for u def get the XL2546K. Both the XL2546K and the XL2566K have great motion clarity. DYAC is unbeatable plus the dark equaliser, brightness and color settings are great for Apex and war bzone. There is no color bleeding at all. Enemies cannot hide.

The Acer 390hz (had this monitor too) gets very dark with VRB (Acers DYAC) activated. So its kinda useless. Plus the colors bleed aloth; Lots of times u cannot distinguish the enemy with the background.
Only thing that is better on the Acer 390hz compared to the XL2546K is the lower inputlag. But then again: what good is low inputlag if u cannot really see the enemy? Visibility def. outweighs inputlag.
The XL2566K is even faster then the Acer 390hz so is the best of both worlds.

About the input lag reduction, did it make a difference on your eyes / gameplay ?

Also, any thoughts on ALIENWARE 24.5" AW2521H 360HZ ?

No not on the eyes really. The DYAC, colors, brightness and dark equaliser is just as good on the XL2546K then om the XL2566K. On gameplay it did make a difference. Specially in games like Quake Live. U can feel the difference. because what u see is been show a little faster i guess. I never played on the AW251H but sinds it 2 y.o. IPS tech I am sure it cannot beat DYAC in motion clarity. Only monitor that can possibly beat the XL2566K at the moment is the 360hz ASUS 1440P monitor. But that one is very expensive cause its hard to get. MSRP is 1000 euro but it goes for 1400 euro ish. The new LG OLED 240hz 1440P has potential also but its dark. And not as clean as DYAC. A dark screen with low inputlag reminds to much of the ACER 390hz IPS so thats a pass for me.

In addiction. Go for a second hand XL2546K If u dont have lots of money. Its the second best 1080P monitor imo. ( best is the XL2566K) The pricedifference between the XL2546K and the XL2566K is arround 400 euro. Thats more then double; some people want to upgrade to the XL2566K and get rid of there old XL2546K. If I where u I would buy it max for arround 260 euro used in good condition or buy a openbox version on amazon for 350 euro.

Thank you for your insight.

Since I am from Uruguay, South America. I have only a few options to be honest:

1. BenQ Zowie XL2566K 24.5 in 360Hz Gaming Monitor - U$S 1.250,82 (Importing it from US to Uruguay)
2. BenQ Zowie XL2546K 24.5 in 240Hz Gaming Monitor - U$S 724,56 (Importing it from US to Uruguay)
3. Alienware AW2521H 24.5 in 360 Hz Gaming Monitor - U$S 979,00 (Buying it locally)

What do you think? (There are no second hand zowie's here)

Thats 500 euro more then in the west. But your setup is pretty good. The cpu and gpu. That gives me the assumption you have some money on the bank. If you can miss it then get the XL2566K. It will give your CPU and GPU the work for what they are attended to do. But if you can get in trouble spending the extra 500 euro or will lose sleep over it get the XL2546K. In addition if u can get the 1440P ROG Swift 360Hz PG27AQN for not more then 1500 euro then get that. Cause in west europe only scalpers sell them for 1400 euro. In the usa its better available for arround 1000 dollar. So for u 1500 dollar.

ASUS ROG Swift 360Hz 27” 1440P HDR Gaming Monitor (PG27AQN) - U$S 2.257,30 (Importing it from US to Uruguay)

It's way too expensive I think.

Is there any other option that would be middle ground between the XL2546K 240Hz and the XL2566K 360Hz? As previously mentioned, focus on competitive gaming

My dear virtual friend..i will only say ..Alvaro Recoba

my solution for every dilemma you have is Acer 390hz 1080p..

I curently run that monitor on Acer Predator XB273U GX 1440p 270hz native timings.

pretty much the same exept Predator is on 10bit..and this tune is on 8bit..
you will not notice any difference regarding 8vs10bit

Predator 1k+ $ and this monitor you can find below 450 i think..
on native 1080p its pretty much as 2566k 360..lets say 85-90% if you want to be nitpicky..
but csgo or any fps more than enough..

mark my words..pretty much efficent for everything you need..

you can make it 4k 144hz without freesync or 120hz freesync premium..
strobing ..HDR400..etc..

i am pretty certain there is no better all arounder sort of say..
jack of all trades ,type of monitor,
it can suit yours every need..

wanna play LOL or Dota make it run like Predator 270hz 1440p
or 4k ..
wanna FPS Csgo Valo..etc
1080p 400hz or lower 720p 540p 400hz..

there is no monitor curently on the market
that can do all of that..

this monitor can do everything with 90% success
and i would rather buy this than any curently especially if you are on a budget
than its no brainer..
wish you all the best with the purchase :P
