Re: Perhaps the best $313 you will spend on your gaming rig!
It is in compare to crt, plasma and oled (oled is said to have 1,000,000:1, crt-plasma ~25000:1). Best lcd with contrast is va, eizo foris va has almost 5000:1..Black Octagon wrote:1500:1 is 'terrible'?

Look into what dynamic contrast is - companies usually type any number behind these words and advertise that as the contrast ratio... its bullshit.Alamar wrote:It is in compare to crt, plasma and oled (oled is said to have 1,000,000:1, crt-plasma ~25000:1). Also, all of the techs you listed are non-existent. Only one being made for the market en mass is the one Eizo monitor and is super expensive. Non existent tech is fun and all... but just pick from the best that we have now.
Currently the top3 gaming monitors are as follows:
1. asus pg278q
2. korean 1440p IPS overclockable (only with ONE dual-link dvi connection)
3. Sony FW900

One must point out that some people are less sensitive to things.
Remember, 8% is color blind, and a large number have less sensitivity to color, and thus less to viewing angle color shift (TN).
Some people see tearing, others don't.
Some people see stutters, others don't see it so easy. (e.g. reduced motion sensitivity)
Those who are really sensitive to viewing angles/colors, will probably prefer the QNIX overclockables, and those who are really sensitive to best motion quality, will probably prefer the ROG PG278Q. There is no perfect monitor for everyone, until the infinite-gamut, infinite-refresh monitor becomes available

I'd rather have a FW900.

Cuz im super sensitive to colors, brightness shift, flicker, any stutter, any lag, and tearing!
I also really dislike blur, but i kinda came to terms with/realized for myself that the other stuff is more important right now now and it will be quite a while before we have a way to mix those solutions with low persistence.
