I see you mentioned od level 3.5? When I do the 259qm trick on the 258qm I get Chinese letters and overdrive looks like it’s on 5 should I set it to 3 then it’s “3.5” seems like the letters stay up on any overdrive setting after applied but I thought it had to be on 5 not 3
Yes, when you do the OD trick from the service menu, it messes up the OSD overdrive menu but you can just set and forget it. So avoid going to OD setting in menu after doing the secret overdrive setting. On my unit it shows chines characters and OD 1-9 while 6 is the one that seems to be selected after the trick.

I’ve also gone back to OD 3 and 240hz, as I believe that’s what this monitor was intended for.

The overdrive setting in the monitor OSD bugs out after enabling OD 3.5 in the service menu. Set the overdrive to level 4 in the monitor OSD, and then go to this page https://www.testufo.com/ghosting. You will see a ton of overshoot behind the UFOs. Go into the service menu and do that OD 3.5 trick. OD 3.5 will work immediately and you'll see a substantial reduction in the amount of overshoot behind the UFOs.

Just so I have this correct, I do the overdrive trick get the Chinese letters and set it to level 4?

No, he meant to set OD 4 first, to see a drastic difference going to OD 3.5.
You also can save a customized setting in Favourites with OD3 and another with OD 3.5, switch between them to see improvement.

Sorry for my confusion but I don’t understand the 3.5 part, it’s 1-5 for me. Is it “half” when it’s Chinese glitched?

We call it 3.5 because performance wise it kinda sits in between 3 and 4.

Okay so set to overdrive 4 then do the od trick which then seems to have it on “6” put it back to 3? And that’s 3.5?

No. Enabling OD Strong Weak, produces its own OD setting, hence the weird OSD glitch.
Just select normal OD 3, then go to the Testufo ghosting site and put a speed of like 1440pp/s.
Then go into the Service menu, follow the ufo while enabling OD Strong Weak, you'll see the difference.
