Hi guys.
So I think which of these two monitors should I buy. Do you have any recommendations?
I play mainly Apex and CSGO/Valorant.
Please note that I'm looking for the fastest and the better choice for gaming. I don't actually care if it's IPS or TN. The only thing I care about is the input delay and clear picture when there's a lot of movement on the display. (dont recommend me dyac zowie monitors pls )
Thank you!

Re: Asus VG258QM vs Dell S2522HG
Are you sensitive to blur? Personally I perceive less blurr on TN and it looks way clearer to me but I only tried newer IPS up to 165hz so not sure how it is at 240, the DELL one does not have BFI, so there would be no blur reduction feature.
But there is some bias here since I'm waiting for 8QM to go in stock rn.

Re: Asus VG258QM vs Dell S2522HG
I can vouch for the vg258qm although I haven’t used the Dell. I have however used the aw2521hf which should be similar to the Dell, didn’t like it.
8qm feels great in valo and apex at 280hz. Gets very bright, motion is clear without elmb.
I have a theory about this monitor, maybe I am wrong.
The panel used in the 8qm is an old panel that was used in one of the benq 240hz tn variants. I believe asus binned the best of those TN panels, and only picked the ones that could handle being overclocked to 280hz. I think it’s one of the best 1080p 240hz TNs and holds up well today.
Colors are surprisingly good for gaming once you adjust the settings to your liking. Not good for content consumption but that isn’t the purpose of this monitor.
I’ve used the acer nitro 390hz and xl2566k and this monitor isn’t far off. Without BFi, the vg258qm > acer 390hz when it comes to motion clarity. Xl2566k is slightly better but the difference to me wasn’t worth the $600 price.
Overall I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with the 8qm.

Please share your 258qm full settings for apex and nvidia control panel as well if possible.Grasshopper24 wrote: ↑24 Feb 2023, 19:30I can vouch for the vg258qm although I haven’t used the Dell. I have however used the aw2521hf which should be similar to the Dell, didn’t like it.

Overclock : 280hz
OD: Level 3
Adaptive sync ON
FPS Mode
Shadow boost OFF
Brightness: 80(daytime) 25-40(nighttime)
Contrast: 80
Vivid pixel: 25
Color Temp: User mode - R92 G90 B100
Saturation:60
Skin tone Natural
Nvidia control panel-
Gsync ON
Max FPS 275
Vsync ON
Color settings default, gamma at 0.86
For Valorant/overwatch/CSGO (games with FPS above 280) I leave FPS uncapped and vsync OFF in program settings for these specific games.
This to me gives the best all around experience. I’ve tried using racing mode + nvidia color vibrance but prefer the look of the built in saturation slider which unfortunately isn’t accessible in racing mode.

Do you use Digital Vibrance or it's at 50%?
I was using ELMB LVL 5, Racing mode, Shadow boost lvl 2, OD 120, OC280HZ, Brightness 80,Contrast 80, Vivid 0,
in NVCP i disabled gsync, and vsync and messed with the Digital vibrance slider. gamma and so on.
I tried this for the past few weeks but now im about to try your settings and see how it works.
I saw someone on youtube that plays OW2 competetive with this monitor with ELMB5 and he told me to try and force my self to get used to ELMB. it's been nice not gonna lie... so far this monitor is probably the best I tried out of many!
my only complain is that I kinda miss the 1440p ppi for text and detecting enemies from far.

In FPS mode I leave digital vibrance at 50 and adjust gamma to around 0.86 in nvcp.
I’ve tried ELMB and DYAC but prefer not use BFI.
What is OD120? Is it basically OD 3.5? I suppose that would be the best if your refresh rate is fixed at 280.
Let me know if my settings work for you or not. I adjust the saturation depending on which game I’m playing. Apex around 60, COD at 55, Valorant at 65 etc.

Gsync Off, so fixed 280hz
OD - 3.5 from the service menu
RGB 94-92-100
Saturation 50
NVCP digital vibrance 60-65%
Gamma 0.87
Contrast 52%
Everything else is the same, this gives the best experience to my eyes without over saturating the colors. Apex/cod/battlefield capped at 240, Valorant/overwatch uncapped.
Re: Asus VG258QM vs Dell S2522HG
I see you mentioned od level 3.5? When I do the 259qm trick on the 258qm I get Chinese letters and overdrive looks like it’s on 5 should I set it to 3 then it’s “3.5” seems like the letters stay up on any overdrive setting after applied but I thought it had to be on 5 not 3
