MSI MAG274QRX Disconnect in Windows Energy Saving

Post by schwix » 09 Mar 2023, 10:05

I upgraded every part of my setup, so PC as well as displays are new. My old displays still used DVI as input.

I am very happy with the MAG274QRX so far, 240Hz is great, BUT:

Every time windows sends the displays to energy saving, they completely disconnect from my system. When I reactivate them ( e.g. by moving my mouse) they do come back to live but to windows it's like I unplugged and now replugged them. Windows plays the "device connected" sound, all windows are moved to the primary display and the nvidia driver pops up a message that a G-Sync compatible device was connected. This is very annoying.

I recorded a video to clarify the issue:

Things I tried to resolve the issue:
  • change input from DisplayPort to HDMI and back
  • updated display firmware on both displays
  • there is no energy saving options in the OSD of the displays, software or driver
  • there was no help in the official support forums
  • Energy Settings in the hidden menu didn't change the problem
Has anyone an idea how to stop this?
Any help is highly appreciated!
