Reviews with different response times

Post by boomlegshot » 26 Mar 2023, 09:49

There is a somewhat new budget 240hz VA monitor (25G3ZM). I've been checking a couple reviews on Youtube and they seem to have different results on their Response Time tables both using the same tool (OSRTT).

Both set on "Medium" overdrive but the avergage initial time almost doubles on one compared to the other. Why is this, is it the tool or unit variance?

The reason is because one test is using RGB 5 tolerance and the other is using RGB 10 tolerance.

The RGB 5 tolerance test is far less forgiving.

i see, good catch. i just barely learned how to read these tables with monitors unboxed video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42IAbsMYxts) so i'm not very aware of this stuff. It was my bad for not paying attention to the tolerance part. So it's better when response times are measured low with lower tolerance.

Is this discernable to the eye? Is RGB tolerance of 10 testing good or bad?

Edit: Nvm I did find Blur Busters article about this (https://blurbusters.com/gtg-versus-mprt ... l-response)
