Acer Predator XB273U image retention issue

Post by xenonny » 29 Mar 2023, 05:34

Hi,

yesterday i bought the Acer Predator XB273UZBMIIPRUZX.
The monitor i used before was Asus VG259QM (1080p, 24.5inch, 280hz ips panel).

I was looking for a nice upgrade to 1440p, while having almost the same HZ.
I ended up buying the mentioned in topic monitor, and discovered issues after a really short time.

After i got the monitor i choose warm color mode + 8/10 black boost, the settings i were using and previous monitor.
Looks like the blackboost make's the image retention appear, in my situation the retentions begins even on blackboost set to 1.

Is there anyone who returned their Acer monitor and got a better panel?
Looks like almost everybody is dealing with this problem when black boost is set to high.

That's really a shame that they are implementing black boost function into these monitor without seeing the problem.
My manufacture date: May 2022.

I will be really grateful for opinions and thoughts about this monitor, i'm thinking of returning it but looks like i won't buy a better one for my price limit.

This unit costed me about 450$, brand new.

Edit: looks like the image retention is here even when black boost set to 0.
Of course not as visible as while boosting black boost, but still visible.

How does this image retention exhibiting itself exactly?

Regardless, this may be down to unit-to-unit variance, because RTINGs state they didn't experience any image retention on their review unit:

Hmm, looks potentially like inversion-related image retention:

Don't know if it's worth mentioning, but currently im using monitor on my old R9 270x via HDMI, can't get more than 60hz @ 1440p.
I will be getting new setup tommorrow and i will be connecting it via display port, so i will see how it looks on 270hz.
