VG279QM still worth it in 2023 ?

Post by Sirius » 10 Jul 2023, 09:00

I have seen in the past people talk very often about the VG279QM as what it is the best 1080p 27 inch for motion blur with very good Overdrive management, there have been a lot of posts about it but what about it in 2023?

How does it compare to the 27GP750-B?

I want to try one of the two but I don't know which is the best.

I've seen people who have had quite a bit of crosstalk with the VG279QM with strobing but apparently the LG wouldn't have strobing.

Don't you think 1080p on a 27'' looks terrible?

No, I do not. I notice no issues and have it really close. Fine for browsing, movies, games, whatever.
You also have the monitor setting Aspect Control and set it to 16:9 (24''W) if you are that picky.
I bought this monitor a month ago and it's amazing. No blur, no ghosting, no nothing at 280Hz.
This is one of the best if not the best 240/280Hz monitor.
I'm very sensitive to latency, so I know what I'm talking about.

Strobing is not good on this monitor, if that's what you are looking for, forget it.

That does nothing to the terrible pixel density of that monitor.

By using less pixels, won't it increase density? Maybe I'm mistaken on how this works.
Anyway, you say terrible but it's fine for me. Browsing is not an issue and for movies and gaming wich is what I aimed for is excellent.
To each their own.

No. Pixel density is how tightly packed together the pixels are in a given area. Using fewer pixels by reducing the resolution has no effect on pixel density.
I can't recommend a 27'' 1080p monitor considering that 27'' 1440p monitors can be found for around $350. 1080p on a 27'' is fine in tac shooters like CSGO and valorant, but in open-world battle-royale shooters like Apex and Warzone, you'll have trouble seeing targets at long range.

In fact I did not wait for the answers and I already had an XL2746S for few days.
I will send it back tomorrow, this is by far the weirdest monitor I've had so far.

I mean, it is from the "S" series I know the XL2546S was very good and according to the UFO test it is just as good as the XL2746S but in reality, no.

It is totally buggy in Blur Buster Utility software, crosstalk rate is really high and overshoot also on latest overdrive mode.

Overall the screen is smooth but slow on the input lag side, I can't react and I felt absolutely not focused, I felt really stupid on this monitor, in-game fluidity was present but I can't say why when I was facing opponents I was getting nothing.

The 27 Inch 1080p is horrible you're right, this VG279QM is coming in a few days, I'll see if it's better, if it's not better, I return 25 inches.

But oddly the stretched 1080p looks better on my Acer XV272UX 1440p than on the Native Zowie XL2746S.

If what you say is true, I can't wait, he must be incredible then, but allow me to doubt it.

Oh no, why is it so bad ?, so what is a good strobe monitor for you ? ( don't say ViewSonic XG2431 please, i hate this one )

I think you're right, the VG279QM I think I'll only keep it for 2 days if that's it xD
It's true that on my XL2746S I felt like a stupid guy lmao.

It doesn't reduce resolution, it's still 1920x1080 but I just tried it and it gets much smaller and actually looks worse so not usable.
