Overwatch 2 Best Settings?

Post by Marie8814 » 08 Feb 2024, 20:16

Hello,

I like to play Overwatch 2 with mostly Widowmaker, but I find hitting consistent headshots to be extremely difficult. I find the speed at which the characters move in that game to be very hard to overcome. They move fast but also totally unpredictable. Feels like trying to headshot a teleporting Flash with a tiny head and everything trying to kill you (while having one of the lowest HPs in the game) at the same time. I keep trying over and over to optimize my settings for that game, but I don't really know what works best.

I am currently playing with a 400 FPS cap, AMD Freesync off and my monitor is 270hz max. I hear that using more frames than what your monitor can display helps with reducing input lag, but I also hear that turning on Freesync and capping the frames just below your monitor's max hz is also beneficial. I have tested both but can't tell the difference and I don't know what's best for me.

Any advice for best optimizing OW2 settings would be appreciated! (in-game, hardware/software) 🙂

My monitor is an Aorus FI32Q-X, GPU is RX 7900 XTX, CPU is Ryzen 5800X3D, 32 GB DDR4

Overwatch doesn't have movement acceleration so people can spam movement keys with crouch to instantly change directions and literally teleport their hitbox. Every other FPS game on the planet has movement acceleration because its needed for this exact reason. Just mentioning this because many people don't realize this detail.

You're using an AMD GPU which means you can't utilize reflex so the most important thing is to never let your GPU go over 90% usage.

Yeah, I'm aware of the no movement acceleration in that game. I was wondering which settings work best to at least get a bit better results. I have Radeon anti-lag turned on, but I dunno if that helps or not. I also don't get 90% GPU usage at 400 fps because my settings are very low, but I don't know if playing like that with freesync off is better vs. playing just below my monitor max refresh rate with freesync on.

Oh my freacking GOD, finally someone that know that is a thing and finally someone talking about that !
Yyes, that's clearly illogical to have that on the game, that's literally the weirdest game to aim, like, insanely hard to aim because of that but easy at the same time because of hitbox.
