Help me choose a monitor

Hello Everyone,

I hope you guys are doing well.

I have in the process of buying a new PC. Basically I will buy the components and assemble it. I live in India.

I have shortlisted the following:
- Intel i7 14700K
- Nvidia Geforce 4070 Super Card

I will be using my PC for home/office use 80% of the time and 20% of the time for gaming. I live FPS Games and flight simulators and wish to try the upcoming MS Flight Sim 2024. My work involves development and stock market analysis (like charts etc).

For the last decade or more I have been using monitors which where 1080p. And I feel comfortable with that resolution. Currently I am suing a HP 24f monitor which is good (at least for work). Never tried gaming in that.

Since I am buying a new PC I was wondering the following :

- Should I stick with my current monitor
- I wanted to try 27" monitor but I don't know if that monitor is recommended for 1080p resolution
- Is it worth moving from 1080 to 2K. If yes won't display size reduce.
- Will a 24" monitor at 1080p produce sharper images compared to a 27" monitor of same resolution
- My budget for new monitor would be around $200

What should I do ?

No. If you're going with 1440p, then it should be at least 27"

Yes, if you go to 1440p, you will most likely need to increase display scaling to 125% in Windows.

No. 1080p @ 27" will look worse than 24" because of PPI not being right.

$200 is usually for 1080p monitors, not 1440p.

I read online that the difference between 1080 vs 2K (in terms of display) is not much. Thus should I stick to 24" monitor for now and later whenever I have the money upgrade to 4K 32" where I will see a significant change. Min monitor size for 4K should be what?

If Yes then my current 24" monitor operates max at 75hz. Is it okay for FS Simulator and some FPS gaming or I choose a new 24" monitor with 144hz or higher refresh rate.

If you want a monitor upgrade and don't want a 27'' monitor, there are 24'' 1440p 165hz monitors for around $200. Koorui GP01, AOC Q24G2A, HKC MG24Q, and Philips 24M1N5500z.
