Any 1440p 240hz recomendations?

Post by MichaelAngelo » 03 Apr 2024, 09:08

Shopping around for a monitor for a gaming PC, currently testing out the XG2431 and loving it. Wondering if there would be a comparable display in the 1440p resolution anyone could recommend. I sit close my screen and ideally don't want to go any larger than 24" but possibly could consider 27" as it seems 24" and 1440p displays aren't common at all.

IMO 27" is a good size when sitting close to the display. When I upgraded from 23" to 27", it seemed like a great upgrade to me.

I think your XG2431 is not KSF phosphor backlight? Many 27'' IPS is.
There is the ~144hz+ QD options, over here in AUS not much more expensive vs KSF. I don't remember any 240hz QD option.
So what I'm saying is I don't think there is a (reasonably priced) 1440p 240hz option without KSF, which you may not like.

I think panelook has like 2 QD-IPS 240hz panels, and you can try find monitor based on panels.
Otherwise, annoyingly, OLEDs options are good if you do not do much office work and can pay for it.

Yeah I would be up for trying OLED, however I do not find many if any 24" options.

I used pcpartpicker to find monitors with the parameters given: 2560x1440, <26'', and did not find anything remotely as good as XG2431.
I only found 24'' 1440p 165hz, 26.5'' 240hz OLED is the smallest that would be decent.

Why is KSF that bad ?

I don't exactly know TBH, I've only had 2 or 3 low-end (for this forum) displays. I think it is something to do with red fringing with KSF used in majority of nano-IPS and similar recent fast-IPS panels. (google KSF phosphor blurbuster)
Some people say they don't like it, I wouldn't know. It is also a pixel peep result. But the XG2431 appears to not use it, so I mentioned it.

And also, there's not many if any 240hz+ 1440p panels that beats/match the XG in price/response perf, I'd really love to be wrong in that regard.

Seems to be perfect for FPS games and terrible for fighting games, SF, Tekken etc

The thing is that the 2 QD-IPS you mentionned can be the AUO that i have on my second monitor > Acer XV272UX and it's just HORRIBLE, like, you get every day headache with this thing, white have a reddish tint and all look more reddish and response time/ghosting are disgusting.

So yes...all 1440p high hertz except PG27AQN are bad.

And i didn't want to buy below 240hz.

It's subjective opinion, I have been using my Acer xv272ux from 2021 and work a lot on it(coding), also got level 10 faceit with this panel and I love this monitor, the best 240hz I ever had, but had a lot other before: Benq 2540, Alienware aw2518hf, LG 27GK750F, Asus vg279qm, Asus vg258qm, Acer xv273x, Acer XF252QX, Acer VG252QX

Today I would buy new version of this monitor Acer XV272UZ or MSI Optix G274QPX

Of course the best I want ASUS ROG Swift PG27AQN), but too expensive in my country and overall I satisfied with Acer XV272UX
