New monitor for games - 1080 or 1440

Post by chascos69 » 16 Mar 2025, 04:21

Hi. We're not going to argue whether 1440p looks better than 1080p on a 27" monitor. It clearly does. What I want to know is if the difference is even noticeable at a distance of 75cm just for gaming. I've watched multiple comparison videos and images, and honestly... I see virtually no difference. There is a difference if you zoom in, of course, but at a distance of 75cm... I can't see 'almost' anything. I don't think it justifies the 30% loss in fps. Am I alone? What do you think?

I've looked at a 27" 1080p monitor from a far distance (further away than 75cm) and I can tell it doesn't look as sharp or as good as it should. I would strongly recommend using 1440p instead. It will be better in the long run.

I don't know what games you play but generally speaking there really isn't much different between medium/high settings these days. You can probably lower some settings, save your frame rate and barely see a noticeable visual difference.
