Installing CRT beam simulator? BFI?

Post by Doobeedoo » 01 Sep 2025, 04:55

Hello, so I've been curious to tryout the CRT beam sim shader for my LG dual-mode OLED at 480Hz as I wanted some form of BFI on.
I play fast competitive fps games, can have such stable fps in specific games and I'd like to have potential clarity improvement further.

Now I've tried with RetroArch but I'm not sure how to configure it for specific games, say from Steam like Quake Champions though.
Not emulation stuff that I've seen some do. Like 'core' download, game missing etc. I've heard about ShaderGlass not sure.

If this can work would be nice to have a guide to set this up if possible and can work. If not 480Hz software BFI at least to try half-rate 240Hz BFI maybe. Just sad OLED monitors lack proper BFI options. Though the CRT sim is rather interesting, CRT ruined me.
