Hue/Saturation on Benq Z series...

Post by Falkentyne » 13 Nov 2014, 21:57

Found out a bizarre workaround to adjust these in DVI (or DP) even though they're grayed out.

1) hook monitor into HDMI and clone the display, make sure your existing connection is set as default screen (just in case it tries to make the DVI display secondary, even when you unplug the hdmi (Ati CCC loves to do this until you set it as primary)
2) use a *GAMING PROFILE that you already saved (e.g. gamer 1, 2 or 3...it helps if you save the standard or fps modes to a gaming profile), so you don't mess up the default profiles.
3) switch to hdmi on the OSD, change the hue and saturation to whatever you want, on one of the gaming profiles (if you want standard, use a profile you saved with the standard preset). Switch to DVI input and test the hue/saturation changes to see if they are what you want.
4) Save your new settings in the gamer profile(s), then unplug the HDMI.

Your hue/saturation changes will now be there under DVi, for that preset, even though they are now grayed out.

Use a different/default preset and then overwrite the gaming one you saved with the saturation changes, if you want to get rid of them.

Seems like the Hue/Sat settings get saved when you change them in HDMI, even when you switch back to DVI or displayport. No idea why Benq chose to lock and have them "unchangeable" in non HDMI, when they --do-- actually work and do change and the changes will stick even if grayed out, when the profile is activated again...

Edit:
This Saturation workaround for DVI ONLY works in FPS mode!
It completely throws out your changes in standard mode and uses 50/50 (the defaults) regardless of what you entered, as soon as you switch back to DVI, while HDMI changes work.
