Re: Some questions about gradient on TN panels
BTW, should I keep these ToastyX settings? What are they doing for me? Is my display locked to 100Hz with them enabled?

Re: Some questions about gradient on TN panels
Oh, the toastyX settings are for reducing the strobe crosstalk "thick bar" field in blur reduction mode. There's articles about it on the main page, mentioning Vertical total (VT) tweaks, and forum threads (with pictures) about different VT values at different refresh rates (look up masterotaku's posts on page 3 of the Benq forum). It does nothing for non-strobed mode, although you may see very faint horizontal scanline type effects on some screens (since you are running the panels at close to their maximum tolerances; e.g. VT 1502 is the absolute highest that will work; 1503 will always give an out of range error or a blackscreen).

Ugh i hope we can figure something out. I get banding on http://www.drycreekphoto.com/Learn/Cali ... adient.htm
I was hoping that it was just my old laptop not outputting well ( +intel hd graphics 3000)
I should have my new pc next week, with a 980 and displayport output and see if that makes a difference

Re: Some questions about gradient on TN panels
How bad is the banding?
I can VERY VERY VERY faintly see borders of the color transitions where the gradient changes but it's so faint that you literally have to tell your mind to look for them, otherwise it looks nice and smooth.
it should appear smooth. The 'vertical rectangles' should NOT stick out at all and should be almost completely inperceptible, although you CAN see it if you really look hard. Even the webpage mentions that most non full gamut (8 bit+) monitors will show some type of banding, even if it's very very faint (it's very faint on mine, so faint that you won't notice it unless you actually look).
Are you saying they stick out like a sore thumb?

Yeah, mine is --nothing-- like that.
In your picture, it literally looks like 16 bit color. But I tried 16 bit color and mine looked --much-- worse.
Mine looks smooth unless I get very close up and I can faintly see that its' not as smooth as can be but definitely looks perfect unless I concentrate :/
Definitely not sure what's going on.

What im gonna do is wait for my new pc and see if that helps. If not I'll exchange it.

Re: Some questions about gradient on TN panels
Have you tried switching inputs and have you tried switching profiles?
One thing I DID notice is, if you SWITCH a profile, I can actually SEE intense banding for about 1/4th of a second RIGHT when the profile switches, then it goes away completely. I saw it on the blue gradient test in AIDA64, and on the lagom website.
Have you tried reset all and color reset (two different options/ one is in picture, one is in system settings) on the OSD?
