Benq XL2430T Settings

Post by CybeRFernandes » 26 Jan 2015, 11:47

Hello guys,

So, i just bought my new BenQ XL2430t and i've found this amazing forum while looking for some settings for the monitor itself. I'm kinda noob in wich concerns to monitor specifications and tweeks but as far as i'm concerned, i've learned the basics by now. I'm sorry if i'm posting this in the wrong section but couldn't find any related to this matter.

I mainly play CS:GO and I've tried different ICC profiles, managed to play a bit with the OSD settings and Enabled "Single Strobe" feature in the service menu but i'm still not happy with the results. I've seen you guys talking about the strobe utility, creating custom resolution, "VT tweaks" etc and checked different tutorials and guides but couldn't find any for this specific model, only found guides for the XL2420z and the XL2411z. I've seen users from this forum saying that the so called "VT tweaks" aren't needed in this monitor anymore and all this information is getting me confused on what should i use/do and what not.

I'm looking forward to have a simple profile for browsing and games in general and other for CS:GO (in which i'd have colour vibrance set to maximum, 144hz and blur reduction on i guess). I know some settings are personal preferences like the Colour Temperature but can anyone guide me throw the different steps, best ICC profile, custom resolution?, OSD settings, factory menu settings, complementary software in order for me to achieve the best results and best colour accuracy with this monitor?

Thanks in advanced for your time,
Best Regards

I just updated my post. Check out the MMO link. That might be of more help. Did you use the ICC profile that should be on the disk that came with the monitor? Also I found that on my XL2420Z that if you use the windows calibration tool that will help a bit as well. Type calibration in the search programs and file box on the start menu. Run through it till the monitor looks the way you like. It has helped mine.

I'm currently using the ICC from the first link you've sent me, it seems to be the most balanced... atleast the ICC is done. Now i needed help on the technical stuff

Im not too familar with the "T" series and I'm still getting my feet wet with the XL2420Z's that I have so I don't think I would be of much help. But have you looked here: http://www.blurbusters.com/zero-motion-blur/lightboost/ to see if any of those options will work for your monitor?

** Updated at 13/08/2015 **

So, after almost a week tweaking and configuring out the BenQ XL2430T, i managed to get a balanced mix of settings i'm sharing with all you guys. The BBR tool wasn't needed at all since this monitor brings up the new Motion Blur Reduction which comes with Intensity and Area settings on the OSD (same as Strobe Duty and Strobe Phase) that take care of job. I've created a custom resolution of 1080p @ 120Hz with VT1500. Hope to help other XL2430T owners and I'll be looking for your opinions and sugestions :)

VT Tweak: 1500
Refresh Rate: 120Hz
BenQ Service Menu: Single Strobe ON
ICC Profile: http://www.displaylag.com/icc-profiles/ ... 0Final.icm

Gamer Profile 1 (Regular Usage):

1920x1080
Blur Reduction: ON
Intensity: 16
Area: 40
Black eQualizer: 0

Gamma: Gamma 5
Color Temperature: User Define (R:98, G:100, B:99)
AMA: High
Dynamic Contrast: 0
Senseye Demo: OFF
Display Mode: Full
HDMI RGB PC Range: RGB (0~255)
Overscan: OFF

Gamer Profile 2 (Counter Strike: Global Offensive):

My XL2430T came in yesterday.
Played around with the settings and this is what works best for me in Windows and games:

1920x1080
144HZ
Blur Reduction: ON; Intensity: 10; Area: 10
Black eQualizer: 0
Color Vibrance: 10
Low Blue Light: 0
Instant Mode: ON
Auto Game Mode: OFF
Picture Mode: Standard
Brightness: 50
Sharpness: 5
Gamma: Gamma 5
Color Temperature: Normal
AMA: High
Dynamic Contrast: 0

Instead of Color Vibrance it's better to use Digital Vibrance in the NVIDIA driver, less clipping of highlights.
Instead Of Black eQualizer which makes black look like grey it's better to adjust the gamma on either the monitor or in the driver.
The highest setting in Low Blue Light is the same as color temperature Reddish, it doesn't do much for me.
Sharpness is best on 5 but you could use 6 which creates just a tiny bit of a halo effect. In games you can use a higher setting to sharpen textures.

Very happy with the monitor.

Black Equalizer and gamma are both adjustable in the exact same preset?
Neither are greyed out?
