I posted as Ike Miller on the Benq forums.
Just replied again and my post said it had to be approved first.

Benq really needs to hire me so I can make sure their firmwares work right! And their blur reduction doesn't go BACK in features instead of forward !

Seriously though, BenQ should at least start paying Falkentyne for his painstaking BBR lessons on a dozen different forums.

I'm not trying to beg for a job, but it would REALLY be nice if I could get involved in some way. Considering my disabilities and issues...I really COULD use a nice tech job like that...

This is what the "Zowie" XL2430 factory menu looks like.

Same scaler as before confirmed. The monitor responds to VT tweaks.

Firmware version is 7. I have no idea what this means in practice. I haven't seen a new AMA setting. We'll likely never see it.

I received a DP cable in addition to a DVI cable in my box. I found this unusual and kinda wasteful, but it is an expensive monitor so it might as well pamper me a little. The only reason I bought it over the 2411z is the displayport input so the cable itself can't hurt.

Also improved is the package. This is the first gaming monitor I've seen that isn't packaged in an ugly, embarrassing box.

In any case, I'm just reporting in that BenQ didn't screw anything up and that these refreshed models are indeed the exact same monitors under a new branding - and the latest firmware, obviously. This is assuming the other refreshed models haven't changed either -- but at this point it's extremely unlikely they were.

You guys let me know if you want any testing done.

Nice. Do you have the ability to dump the firmware and upload it? Pretty 100% sure the "non zowie" versions will accept this firmware with the Mstar ISP device or Linux Ubuntu happily. Gut instinct says only the Benq logo was changed, but with Benq, you never know.

Can do, if Ubuntu is all that is necessary. I don't have the Mstar device.

You have to do all the commands before this line, but seems to be

sudo ./flashrom -p mstarddc_spi:dev=/dev/i2c-1:49 -c "MX25L1605A/MX25L1606E" -r backup.bin
where 1 is bus #1, and if the bus is on 0 or 2, you change it to 0 or 2. (I think I had it on bus 5 once).

The backup should be 2mb in size, with 900k of data and 1.1mb of empty spaces.

Bus for what exactly? How can I check?

Basically the "bus" is the video port bus number where the monitor sits on.
Depending on how many ports your video card has it could be on any number of port values. On my laptop, the VGA port the Benq was attached to was port 1.
On my Radeon 290X, the DVI port was port 5.
I have not tried flashing it through displayport.
