This is a good CRT right?
How much do you think it is worth?
I might be able to buy one, but i dont want to be taken for a ride.

lacie monitors were popular with graphic designers back in the day. Still a good idea to turn it on and check for burn in.

Why would you use a 16:9 resolution on a 4:3 monitor?

Iiyama Hm204Dt I have this monitor (in reserve) but its 19" version, great great looking colors (for example lovely best looking blue I ever seen), so vivid great picture on all but dark objects but my has one minus too dark in shadows (http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/black.php), similiar problem to my primary Flatron but as lighter objects are already in default bright it is not really possible to add much gamma by software like I do in my Flatron and not disrupting light picture, main reason why I prefer Flatron.

those issues can be resolved with a colorimeter and software like Argyll. You can adjust the video LUT to customize gamma to your hearts content.

Ok, so i got that Iiyama hm204dt... two of them even for free.
Both seem to be working... i decided to use the one without the broken stand

Its 20" of viewable 4:3 area. Im running it 1440x1080 @ 120hz. Took a bunch of pictures of the frameskip test... doesnt look like there are any skipped frames.
But there is some clearly visible trailing. Like if i drag the mouse cursor on a BLACK background. That means its dying, right?

Text is blurry. But i guess there is nothing i can do about that. The 120hz CRT is certainly something i can get used to (time to speedrun Doom3 or something). Havent done any gaming yet... too much work right now. But that 120hz desktop is so good already, not to mention i can actually read text while i am moving it around... thats pretty surreal.
(i had used CRT when i was way too young to understand up from down, now im 25 and this 22" thing is certainly a trip experience)

the trail you see is expected due to the phosphor's decay time and completely unrelated to the age of the monitor

obviously crts are more blurry than lcds, but imo a good/new crt has completely usable text at 100ppi. i actually prefer reading text on my crt (cpd g520p) than on ~100ppi lcds

it could be that youre just not used to it, or that the monitor is old (crts get more blurry with use)
and you'll probably get a bit more horizontal sharpness at 1440x1080@100hz.
