240Hz Turbo vs G-Sync

Post by Flosam » 02 Nov 2015, 09:39

Hey guys,

i'm about to buy a new gaming monitor, but i can't decide yet.
I'm mostly playing games like Battlefield 4 with a framerate about 120 FPS and my graphics card would support G-Sync.
But i'm not quite sure if I should go with a G-Sync monitor or a Eizo 240Hz Turbo.
I looked through the topics but i couldn't find a comparasion between these 2 types.
Can someone help me out ?
I'm struggeling between these three monitors:
EIZO FORIS FG2421-BK
Acer Predator XB240HAbpr
AOC g2460Pg

Eizo FG2421 is a huge panel lottery. it also has higher than average input lag with Turbo 240 enabled, but not so bad with it off (even though it's naturally beaten by all of the current Gsync/Freesync IPS and TN panels, and the older blur reduction XL2720Z trounces it (3.2ms average input lag) with blur reduction disabled; only the Dell U3014 could compete.

If you can use gsync theres nothing wrong with getting a gsync monitor. The 1440p monitors (both TN And IPS) have the best image quality but are also much bigger panel lotteries than the 1080p 24" TN gsync monitors.

I know nothing about the AOC but there was one panel reviewed (not sure if is the one you listed) on either tftcentral or pcmonitors.info where it got lackluster reviews for the overdrive circuit that shut off at 120hz.

You will be happy seeing how your monitor sync with your movement seamlessly so go with the G-Sync.
1440p will be better but that requires more GPU power and prices are very high at this moment, AOC g2460Pg has everything you need for 1080p monitor 1ms, 144hz, G-Sync, ULMB and you cant complain for that price.

My opinion: gsync and 1440p both are not worth the costs (taking account all hardware and licensing cost needed).
Resolution isn't the most important aspect for image quality. For fps game if you already have high fps in game, blur reduction like Turbo 240 might be good. But really good would be only with other than lcd tech.
