Can't get 120hz monitor above 60hz without frameskips

Hi all! I was really exited to get my new 120hz tv hooked up as a monitor for my new PC rig! It's looking great even at 60hz. However I cant seem to get it anywhere above 60hz without frame skips.. I created a custom resolution in nVidia control panel, 1920x1080x120hz, and it runs fine even in games vsync'd at 120FPS, but skipping every other frame according to the tests.. I also tried it at the lowest resolution (720p) and it would not go above 60fps even still. What do I need to do to get the true 120hz without frameskips?

I have one monitor running GTX760>HDMI>e390ia1

Second monitor running on the onboard Intel HD 530 build into skylate i7 cpu >HDMI>e390ia1

Neither of these monitors will go above 60hz on either graphics card. Did I get scammed?

Most TVs only do 120 hz interpolation, and I think that's the case for yours. The panel does 120 hz, but the control board actually only takes 60 hz input.

I'm confused. So what's the difference between setting a normal monitor on interlaced mode, and my monitor? I tried setting it to 1080i (Interlaced), but the entire image vibrates up and down.

So are you saying I got scammed? Theres no way to overclock the supposed 120hz monitor over 60hz, even 61hz? Thanks for the reply

A monitor that says 120 hz should do 120 hz. A TV? It should as well, but that's not how manufacturers treat their advertising terms. That model will never do real 120 hz right out of your PC.

No. There are only several TV models that support 120Hz (or more) from PC and afaik it's unofficial support.
Other 99% of TVs can't output 120Hz (or more) from PC.
