Change old monitor...

Post by navik111 » 11 Apr 2016, 14:22

Hello, I'm new here and I have a some questions.

I wanna change my old monitor is a BenQ GL2240 for one of these (the ficker is killing my eyes...):

1. AOC G2460PG -> 400€ (with good offer)
1ms, 144Hz, Flicker Free, ULMB and G-Sync.

2. BenQ XL2411Z-> 290€
1ms, 144Hz, Flicker Free, Motion Blur, eQualizer, Low Blue Light.

I have a Asus GTX 770 OC.

My question, the technologies to care the eyes which monitor is better?

These monitors will do a real difference to my old monitor, right?

ULMB and Motion Blur are the same, right?

Most important I think is the "Ficker Free" with any level of brightness 0%-100%. AOC G2460PG is not use PWM, use DC. BenQ XL2411Z I tried to find which use, but no idea. If someone now, tell me please :)
The color and contrast AOC win.

I want this monitor for play games FPS mostly and watch films.

What do you think?

Thanks for help ;)

Go with G-Sync. Both are flicker/PWM-free.

same. both are flicker free.

>> These monitors will do a real difference to my old monitor, right?
Yes

>> ULMB and Motion Blur are the same, right?
No. ULMB means Ultra Low Motion Blur.

Pick any. BenQ has bad colors at default settings.

Are 110€ more, worth it? Maybe for colors and contrast worth.

No. ULMB means Ultra Low Motion Blur.
I mean do the same... so I have another question, witch is better ULMB, BenQ Motion Blur or LightBoost? These 3 options enable flicker, right?

Both are flicker free.
I mean AOC got for sure Direct Direct Current backlight with Flicker Free, but you can have Ficker Free too with Pulse Width Modulation, so I asked which use XL2411Z.

Yes, I heard but even calibrated color, AOC has better color.

I do not know which to choose... feel free to tell me if you have another option with different monitor... with 24'', Flicker Free (100% verifeid de 0-100% brightness) and 144Hz.

Thanks for help ;)

Google what is G-sync and decide yourself do you need it or not. 110€ is for G-Sync. LCD panel itself is same. You can tweak colors at BenQ.

ULMB, BenQ Motion Blur and LightBoost are techs that makes motion blur less and yes it's flicker. The are almost equal but BBR can be adjusted.

>> I mean AOC got for sure Direct Direct Current backlight with Flicker Free, but you can have Ficker Free too with Pulse Width Modulation, so I asked which use XL2411Z.
afaik flicker free means pwm frequency is too high (16khz or so) and unnoticeable for human eye.

If you wanna so good colors don't buy 24" TN 144Hz.

All 24" 144Hz TN have same LCD panel. Only PCB differs. PCB can only adjust colors a bit and BenQ have may be worst default colors from all 24" 144Hz TNs. Just try AOC.

One more question, the technology "Low Blue Light", can I do with all monitors, right? I just need enter into Menu OSD monitor and the temperature down color blue or are different things? Also if you don't want change the temperature manually, I hear to a program named "F.lux" that do the same than "Low Blue Light", is true?

Thank you ;)
