144hz monitor @ 60hz? Help!

See HOWTO: Fix "TestUFO Stuck at 60Hz" FAQ
Hi,

I'm new on the forum and did search before posting this to see if anyone else had this problem before me but I found nothing.

The problem is I bought a 144hz monitor but it seems to work only @ 60hz according to my eyes and the testufo page. The test shows 60hz and 60fps.
My ASUS VG248QE 24" Full HD 1920x1080 144Hz 1ms monitor is connected to a MSI GTX 1060 card with a Dual-link DVI-D cable and the monitor resolution is set to 144hz in the advanced monitor resolution settings, yet it still shows up as 60hz on the testufo page and I can clearly see the blurr. I bought this monitor, so I can play at over 100hz and to get rid of the motion blur that realy bothers me. Please help to solve this problem!

My sys. specs are in my sig. I use firefox as a browser.

Don't tell me the 144hz refresh rate doesn't work in win7 64bit. I realy don't want to install win 10 that is basicaly a giant spyware if I don't have to.

No, you shouldn't have to reinstall your os.

Try just updating your drivers and making sure you chose 120-144hz in Nvidia Control Panel.

Also try the test in a different browser. Sometimes Hardware acceleration isn't on or it just doesn't work for some reason.

Get a DisplayPort cable to make 100% sure you're not running into weird pixel clock limitation issues. Also, it's almost 2017. Why the hell are you still using DVI cables? :-D

Anyway, the best way to tell the current refresh rate is by checking the OSD of your monitor. Open the OSD of your monitor and go to the "information" section (should be inside the "System Setup" OSD menu.) It should tell you the current resolution and refresh rate.

Another way to verify is by installing MSI Afterburner, enable the FPS indicator and run a non-demanding game with vsync enabled. For 120Hz, you'll get exactly 120FPS. For 144Hz, you'll get 144FPS.

I don't want tell you the 144hz refresh rate doesn't work in win7 64bit. I wanna tell you live in a cave isn't smart choice. Look at LTSB edition.

Thanks for the reply. The drivers are brand new because I just bought the card 3 days ago :) The refresh rate is set to 144hz in nvidia control panel as I stated before.

update: Yehhaaa! Problem solved. In Chrome it shows 144hz Valid and working. I guess my bad was not not test in other browsers but on the testufo page it states under the test, that IE is limited to 60hz but that firefox should work with 120+ So why you think firefox doesn't work? I have the latest version and hardware acceleretion is enabled too.

The monitor's guide and all other sources told me to use DUAL LINK DVI to be able to get 144hz and they actualy included one with the monitor. Would the display cable work better and would it be worth to actually buy one? Anyway, it seems the problem was with firefox which I still don't understand why?

As for using win7 64bit, I already stated why I use it rather than win10. Windows 10 is reported to be made with one aim to spy on everything you do on a computer. I know win 7 isn't safe eighter but I made it as safe as possible and I'm not willing to help the NSA or other scum organization to spy on everything I do 24/7. I also hated win 8 with the new crap design, where everything was impossible to find and you had to relearn the whole windows to be able to operate it. So I never switched. Win 7 works just fine for me and I'm not even concerned with not having directX 12. Don't fix what ain't broken :)

Too late, your computer is also full of spyware.

Unless you didn't install a bunch of very specific updates you're probably more fucked then windows 10. In windows 10 you have a option to turn a lot of that stuff off especially if you have enterprise edition or LTSB.

ClassicShell, or my favorite Start8. You install these and you will never see metro again. It's the first thing i installed when i switched to 8 and i loved it. Windows 8 is kinda great even better then win7 when you don't use metro.

But meh, i think all windows versions stink atm. Might as well just use the most up to date one as it does legitimately perform the best.

There is a guy called BlackWingCat that still uses windows 2000 and tries to keep his system working with today standards. http://blog.livedoor.jp/blackwingcat/ar ... 25725.html

Benq only ships you one cable. DVI.

Na display port won't make anything better. It's just the future of display cables.
