Just wondering if the S2417DG is a true 8bit panel or a 6bit + FRC panel? It says 6bit + FRC here: http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/product ... &~wsf=tabs

but online reviewers said its 8.

Hmm this website indicates it is 8bit and doesn't use FRC

But I don't know how reliable that site is. In my experience looking for true 8bit displays TN panels usually are not true 8bit. The website you linked seems like its spec sheets directly from Dell. I'd go with their word over anyone else's.

Yeah, something is not right even 144hzmonitor said its 8 bit, TFTcentral said the 27" one is real 8bit so there shouldn't be any difference on the 24" model but Dell is the only one that says it 6bit + FRC.

AFAIK, FRC is used by 8-bit panels too. Even by 10-bit ones. I don't actually understand the reasons though.
