Hi everyone! i am totaly new here so i dont know if i am doing the right thing, anyway, i will explain my problem.
I recently got a "BenQ 24'' XL2411Z 144Hz" knowing that my GPU could handle it, (Asus Radeon HD7970 DirectCUII TOP)
I know that there is that little switch on the card that makes a port dual dvi so i changed it (as i used a silly 60hz before ) and it should now work as a dual, i know i have it in the right dvi connection.
The problem is that whenever i change it to anything above 60hz (100hz, 120hz and 144hz) it works in windows at the desktop, but the second i start Loadout for example to test it, or even open firefox i get a smothering of the graphics and it says "use the dual dvi cable that you got in the box" and i am! why is this happening? am i missing something? i even installed the drivers for the screen from the disk (should it even be required? well i did)
what can i do to fix this? i am sorry that i am a total noob with anything 60hz< but i am a learning noob! i want to use it!
Thank you for your time!
BenQ 24'' XL2411Z 144Hz Cable? problems
Re: BenQ 24'' XL2411Z 144Hz Cable? problems
Updated card drivers? Never heard of this switch before, but are you sure it wasn't already set to dual-dvi mode? Does this happen in lots of gamers?
Re: BenQ 24'' XL2411Z 144Hz Cable? problems
gpu drivers are updated
the switch seems to be very "unique" to this asus model of the 7970. (there is pictures around of it if you look around). it was in single before as i used a normal 60hz, and there for couldn't switch to 1080p 120hz or anything, (as 1024x764 120hz is max then) once i switched it could change to 120hz at 1080p but the problem came instantly when starting games, even just simple firefox.

Solved by changing the cable. apparently the cable I got with the screen was bad. That should be tested...
