refresh rate and XL2546 monitor

Post by neo8175 » 29 Dec 2017, 17:23

I just bought the XL2546 and would like to setup a in game resolution of 1028 x 764, 200hz refresh rate for the game Black Squad to avoid stuttering and screen tearing but it's not an option. I can only choose 60hz, 120hz, 144hz and 244hz. I tried to create a custom resolution in the nvidia control panel of 1028x764, 200hz but it will not show up in game in full screen mode. My nvidia settings are preffered scaling display on gpu and scale to aspect ratio. Can I create custom refresh rates in "preferred refresh rate" in "program settings" in the nvidia control panel? Any ideas? I have dyac set to premium, and AMA set to high.

Just to confirm, you're talking about 1024x768.

Also, does 1024x768 200Hz work in Windows?

If it works there, then you can also try to delete 1024x768 240Hz (with ToastyX CRU) in order to force games to use the next highest refresh rate, 200Hz.

Reinstalling missing refresh rates will require ToastyX's reset-all.exe or a reinstall of graphics drivers, unless you write down the timings of the deleted mode.

That said, why 200Hz instead of 240Hz?

The game has a max fps limit of 200 unless I can tweak it and I'm trying to get smooth gameplay with 200fps, 200hz + dyac. 1024x768 200hz does work in windows. I'm also trying out the Alienware 24" 240hz g sync monitor (AW2518H) which allows me to choose 200hz within the game. What determines default refresh rates for a display?

With g-sync you should use 240Hz, not 200.
