So, I've just set up this new acer monitor, which is indeed a 240hz one...but I need your help to fix a problem with it.
Later on I'll compare it to the Alienware 25 and benq xl2411z, as promised, but first I want to fix the issue, which I describe in this video:

Re: New monitor - ACER XF270HA [NEED HELP]
Honestly I think you need to check it for frameskipping.
While experimenting with non-stock (overclocked) refreshrates on my LG, I sometimes was getting totally similar stuttering/unsmoothness, which then turned out as frameskipping at this modes (e.g. 242hz, 250hz)

Took a couple of photos... out of 20 pics, 5 showed an empty square...
Time to look into what can I do if my monitor has frameskipping...

Please post the frameskip photos -- I'd like to see them.

Ok, here are two good shots, and 2 bad ones.
(btw, the monitor feels less responsive compared to the Alienware...idk whether it's down to the frameskipping, or there's actually more to it than that)

That's definitely frames skipping. There was another 240hz AOC monitor which had the same problem, the way you fix it is by lowering the Pixelclock by turning down the VT and/or HT in CRU.
The easiest way of checking would be to create a custom 240hz resolution in NVCP with slightly lower VT/HT to see if it fixes the issue.

Yep, I figured this much... so I've started fiddling around with the timings... turns out the highest pixel clock this thing can take is 581~...
And they are already using low amounts of VT and HT...
The only way I could fix most of the skips, was by going down to 200hz. And even then, there were occasional skipped frames... what a piece of junk.
I've tried copying the alienware's timings, just for the heck of it, but it didn't work.

I've tried fixing the issue...fiddled around for quite a while with the timings, but couldn't get rid of the skips unless I lowered the refresh rate to 200hz, gonna send this monitor back... I don't wanna keep something with which I have tinker just to get it working as advertised. Plus it feels less responsive, compared to the Alienware 25 overall.
Anyway, here are the default timings:

It's not all bad though. I've gained some experience... now I know that I won't be satisfied, unless my next monitor will have 27 inches. The bigger size really, really helps me acquire and track targets better in every title I play.
Made a similarly crappy video about the monitor in which I review/compare it to my Benq and Alienware that I'll upload and share here soon.
