Which 40” tv is best for gaming on pc at 120hz?
Looking for a large display as I need large type to read. Instead of fiddling w font sizes in Windows, in chrome, in various code editors etc, I just want to go with a larger display(larger pixels). Since I also game I like 120 he. Currently using Acer hku270 Which is a 2500x1440 display at 144hz and gsync. Great for gaming but not perfect for work. I know Samsung makes that 40” widescreen monster with FreeSync but it’s not 120 he. I ask because a lot of new TVs this year are touting “true 120hz”

NVidia announced "BFGD" a while ago. These are huge G-Sync 120Hz (or higher) 65" displays. Which is probably too big for your use case.
Other than that, the upcoming true 120Hz TVs should be interesting. Although none of them will support G-Sync.

That's one option. Another option is that many 4K HDTVs often support 1080p 120Hz from a computer. This includes the more recent LG OLEDs too. RTINGS.com (who uses some BlurBusters testing techniques) also tells you if the television set supports a 120 Hz refresh rate from an external source.

Help me understand why a monitor would be better than this TV
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N2 ... 20&ie=UTF8
It's 120 hz, 43 in, 4k, low lag.
It could sit on a desk and allow many windows open for regular pc work.
And it's only $300

I don't think it's 120Hz. It probably just outputs 120Hz using frame rate interpolation, but input is limited to 60Hz.
But I'm no TV expert.

If you scroll down it's 120Hz CMI which is frame interpolation and who knows what "low latency" means to them. Buying a TV sucks because it's full of marketing BS.
Re: Which 40” tv is best for gaming on pc at 120hz?
You should wait for TV's with HDMI 2.1 - https://www.hdmi.org/manufacturer/hdmi_2_1/
Higher video resolutions support a range of high resolutions and faster refresh rates including 8K60Hz and 4K120Hz for immersive viewing and smooth fast-action detail. Resolutions up to 10K are also supported for commercial AV, and industrial and specialty usages. Dynamic HDR support ensures every moment of a video is displayed at its ideal values for depth, detail, brightness, contrast and wider color gamuts—on a scene-by-scene or even a frame-by-frame basis.
Enhanced refresh rate features ensure an added level of smooth and seamless motion and transitions for gaming, movies and video. They include:
- Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) reduces or eliminates lag, stutter and frame tearing for more fluid and better detailed gameplay.
- Quick Media Switching (QMS) for movies and video eliminates the delay that can result in blank screens before content is displayed.
- Quick Frame Transport (QFT) reduces latency for smoother no-lag gaming, and real-time interactive virtual reality.
- Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) allows the ideal latency setting to automatically be set allowing for smooth, lag-free and uninterrupted viewing and interactivity.

Lately, many 4K TVs now have official 1080p 120Hz input.RealNC wrote:I don't think it's 120Hz. It probably just outputs 120Hz using frame rate interpolation, but input is limited to 60Hz.

You can go to RTINGS.com to find out which TV does, they actually verify if the TV does 120Hz from an external source.

Re: Which 40” tv is best for gaming on pc at 120hz?
ill give my experinace to use the tv as a pc gaming monitor
high input lag
using 1080p 120hz well make the picture quality very bad as the resolution is not native
there is no native 4k tv with 120hz
my suggestion is to get a 144hz 1080p monitor 32"
well be good enough for every thing

120Hz on the LG OLED looked fairly good from a regular sofa viewing distance. It's fuzzier than 4K but the scaler was relatively good - and that keeps things very clear during fast motion (less motion blur). Some TVs have fairly good scalers, and some not so good.ahmedpc03 wrote:using 1080p 120hz well make the picture quality very bad as the resolution is not native
Ideally 4K 120Hz is better.
