I've been noticing in the past month several gray horizontal lines appearing on my screen. My monitor is plugged with DVI-D and after some tests I found out that I can barely notice them (but still present) when the display is at 120hz or 60hz, but they are very noticeable at 144hz. When plugging the monitor in HDMI (so max 60hz) there are no lines. Could this be a software problem? Here's an example

This type of defect may be a port specific problem -- but you should try to test a few grey fields at the Lagom LCD Tests website, and see if these lines appear with specific grey shades.
You never see this for HDMI, ever, even for different grey shades?
