XL2546 vs XL2411Z

Post by hleV » 07 Jun 2018, 04:11

I've been looking into XL2546, looks like a good monitor for my mostly competitive gaming. Here's the deal though:

I'm currently on XL2411Z FW V4. With VT tweak, it makes the screen even brighter (great!) so I get to reduce Persistence and still see stuff. This ICC profile from this page makes colors better yet darker (I can also forget changing gamma in-game unless I wanna lose the colors from the ICC profile).

So, XL2411Z:
  • Pros:
    • Has a 350cd/m² brightness spec.
    • VT tweak increases brightness.
  • Cons:
    • Default colors are crap so ICC profile is needed, and the one suggested everywhere has darker colors it seems.
    • Only 144Hz, which is reduced to 120Hz for a better blur reduction.
Now what would I gain and lose by going for the XL2546? Supposedly it's darker (320cd/m² vs 350cd/m²). How's the default colors, did anyone need an ICC profile (I hate ICC profiles due to shitty game support, requiring third party workarounds to have it applied in fullscreen, etc.)? Refresh rate is gained (240Hz→180Hz vs 144Hz→120Hz). DyAc is supposedly nice. VT tweak probably wouldn't add brightness for XL2546 (it doesn't even add brightness for the newer FW aka Zowie XL2411s). Anything I missed? Wrong anywhere?

From what I've heard the colours are not bad, I'm well aware of the color issue of the XL2411Z but i'm 90% sure they didn't screw it up for that one.

Blur reduction is going to be a LOT brighter, the newer strobing is very bright if my 240hz ULMB is anything to go off of. I'm pretty sure that's what DyAc™ is, just brighter BR.

All around i've heard it's a very good monitor.
