They appear to be using the same panel, so they are the same quality in non-LightBoost mode. (And they are both TN panels, so you're buying because of good LCD response, not because of good LCD colors).

However, the divergence occurs when you play with the extra features, like Low Blue Light mode, or strobed mode (e.g. LightBoost). The XL2720Z has better colors in BENQ Blur Reduction than XL2720T does with LightBoost, but is marred by the known issue. There is however a solution of which news is forthcoming.

The now-discontinued original VG278H used a really good 27" panel that had slightly better color performance during strobed mode, though.

So:
- Colors in non-LightBoost is very similar
- Colors in LightBoost/BENQ Blur Reduction Mode diverges significantly, with both VG278H and XL2720Z(only for ones compatible with Blur Busters Strobe Utility) better quality than current typical LightBoost monitors

If you have a colorimeter calibration unit, you can get the XL2720Z reasonably competitive with other good 27 inch TN panels. But it's harder work, while VG278H was well calibrated out of the box.
if you are only going to play console games, rather than also PC games, they won't be able to take advantage of the 120Hz operation. There are a lot of fast IPS 60Hz monitors that you can take advantage of instead. On the other hand, it is discontinued.

Have you used many TN and IPS monitors, and are aware of the response differences versus color differences?
Is a motion blur reducing strobe backlight important for you during PC video games?

It is impossible to tell you which you would definitely prefer: It is a decision & it is a personal decision.

There are always pros and cons of TN, IPS, and VA. Strobed TN is numero uno at the moment for motion clarity, while IPS is numero uno at the moment for color quality. At the moment, it is not possible to have your cake and eat it too.

Just buy the BenQ XL2411Z and the colormunki/i1pro spectrophotometer and you will have the best of both worlds.
there is LITTLE to NO difference between 6bits + FRC (8bits) and real 8bits VA/IPS so the result will be the same at the naked eye.
the overall is expensive but definetly worth it.
