Benq XL2411 144hz and audio using 1 cable

Post by Kcube989 » 24 Jul 2018, 10:46

Hi, I have a Benq XL2411 and a GTX 970. In order for me to get 144hz on the Benq I need to use DVI since using HDMI(1.4 as per benq specs) will limit me to 60hz, creating a custom resolution @144hz will give me out of range/no signal. Previously I was using a Benq GW2270H monitor and I just used an HDMI cable since i was only running it at 73hz. I had my speakers connected to the headphone jack on the monitor and my headphones connected directly to the motherboard audio ports at the back of the pc. With this setup I can avoid clutter by not connecting anything on the audio front panel of my case. Now on the XL2411 I do not have this luxury anymore since I am forced to use DVI. Is there any way for me to use a single cable and get both 144hz and audio at the same time?

It looks like you're only using stereo speakers, right? So can't you connect your headphones and speakers to the back of the PC at same time using stereo upmixing? That is, connect your speakers to the first jack (front left/right) and your headphones to the second jack (rear left/right). Then enable stereo upmixing, which will send the same stereo signal on all surround ports.

I've been using this myself for years now.

Sadly I only have 3 audio ports at the back, I guess I have no choice but to use my front panel audio ports or maybe get a usb sound card
