BenQ XL2411Z custom refresh rates [75Hz, 76Hz, 77Hz]

Post by masterotaku » 16 Mar 2014, 10:09

I've created some custom resolutions in the Nvidia Control Panel. Those are 85Hz and 75Hz at 1080p, with CVT timings. But something strange happens. At 85Hz, it works fine (except for the crosstalk caused by V1 firmware) motion wise, but sometimes the monitor information reports that frequency incorrectly. It sometimes says 60Hz, other times 110Hz, etc, but it works as it should, strobing at 85Hz.

The other case is this one:

It happens ONLY at 75, 76 and 77 Hz. Under 75Hz and above 77Hz it's fine (the monitor still reports random frequencies).

Why does this happen? Is it fixed with the new firmware?

Edit: it also happens at frequencies between 58 and 63 Hz (both included).

I'm not sure why this happens. I'll forward this message to BENQ, to keep an eye on.
Have you tried other timing formats, such as CVT or Reduced, or trying the Vertical Total 1350 Trick? (which will greatly reduce strobe crosstalk on the XL2720Z with Version 2 firmware).

Wow, thanks. Combining GTF timings with the 1350 trick worked for 75, 76 and 77 Hz (CVT + 1350 trick too, but I think I had already tried that before and it didn't work...).
However, 60 to 62 Hz frequencies seem trickier, as I currently can't find working values. Still, the default 60Hz mode that comes with the monitor works, of course.

Are you using the Dual Link DVI which was included with the monitor box or an older DVI cable?

It's the DL-DVI included with the monitor. The only other DVI cable I have is single link.
