XG248Q Pixelation Alt Tab Bug

Post by Anonymous02 » 11 Nov 2018, 10:42

Hello,

I am about to pull out all of my hair over this issue.

Specs:
1. 8700k @5.1core/4.9cache - 2x8gb @4133Cl16, gtx 1070

Issue: Pretty much one out of every 20 alt-tabs in and out of any full screen game, then*EDIT everything goes pixelated. Below is a link for photos of the issue. If I try to change resolution, refresh rate or unplug the display port cable, the screen goes black and the monitor osd says "no display input" and only a reset will fix it.

What i've tried:
1. DDU clean install of 391.35, 416.64
2. Reinstall Windows 10 LTSB (1607) and LTSC (1809*EDIT)
3. Reseat of my 1070
4. Test at stock clocks

Other notes:
1. My previous AOC 2460PF never had any issues, only after getting the xg248q
2. When the issue is occuring, I can continue using the pc normally (but everything is pixelated)

What are you resetting to fix it? The entire PC or the monitor? Are you using fullscreen ingame?

According to those reddit posts spamming alt tab can fix the issue. How often are you alt tabbing in and out? If you're doing it really quickly without waiting for windows to reappear then i could see things glitching out. I'd advise you to alt tab and wait dont press any other keys until the window you tabbed to is in focus. Some people are really spammy with their alt tabs and i bet windows 10 doesn't like that in particular the DWM.

Hi, if I do change resolution or refresh rate and the screen goes black, I have to hard reset my computer. Also that fix works sometimes (If I spam alt-tab) I noticed that when it does fix the issue, the alt tab takes longer to get back into game. And I don't alt-tab that often or spam it when I do.

Besides with my 144hz monitor this issue never happened.

Seems like this monitor is riddled with issues. I exchanged two, both had horrible clouding streaks running vertical, while at the same time spanning the entire horizontal space. The photo I provide is over exposed and it's not this bad, but I can clearly see these clouding lines in a lot of dark content, even with 0 brightness. Problem becomes worse at night when it gets dark out and dark content looks more washed out due to the lack of lighting, so it gets revealed more. If the content is just a single dark static color, it stands out so bad. And the viewing angle you're looking from can make them stand out more, like when I slouch in my chair, they are more noticeable.

I've also seen people complaining about the monitor randomly losing signal while in use, others reporting the monitor won't wake from sleep, and now your issue. It's a shame, because it's a vast improvement when it comes to the actual performance and clarity compared to last gen 240hz I tried and hated.

I think it's safe to say to avoid these, or at least until they make some revisions.

Hi, I don't have any of the other issues you mentioned, the issue I have I've seen other monitors have (from different manufacturers and different refresh rates) When it doesnt have the alt-tab bug, I have 0 issues.

Can you post a picture of a full black/dark grey screen in paint, preferably in a dark environment? I think it's more likely you just don't notice it. Either that, or I got horrible luck getting 2 models that both had nearly identical awful clouding, just stronger/softer in different areas.

My first one had it really bad on the right side, my second had it really bad on the left side.

Edit: Never heard back from OP, but more reports of the same exact issue I described with clouding can be read here:

pretty sure driver 417.22 fixes this issue, " Display corruption may occur on higher refresh rate DisplayPort monitors upon resume from sleep mode. [2438988] "
