XL2540 with 500hz polling rate

Post by hyyliiight » 05 Dec 2018, 03:35

Hello guys,

i wanna buy a Zowie XL2540 but i got a Zowie EC2-B Mouse and i prefer to play at 500hz polling rate. For Information i am just playing PUBG very competitive. I read that 500 polling wouldnt be that good on 240Hz monitors ? But is it just not good when the game runs like 230 fps ? As i said i just play PUBG and get around 115 fps in average. Now I am thinking of the cheaper Zowie XL2411p would be a better choice for my Situation, because its 144HZ and I can play on 500polling and dont reach more then 130fps in PUBG.
But for example - i know that Shroud the ex-Professional uses the XL2540 and got a polling rate of 500 as well...
Would be happy of a response.

best regards,
hyyliiight

Just use 1000Hz, it's slightly better and most modern mice/PCs have no issue running it stably.

Hey shekel, thanks for your answer but this was not my question.. i dont mind if my mouse or pc can handle 1000hz thats for sure. But if you play competitive or a lot of fps games you know that 500hz is much better for your aim. Now again the question is, should i buy a xl2411p 144hz that i can play with 500hz mouse or is there a way to play on 240hz with 500hz polling rate like shroud does ?

Best regards,

1000hz + 240hz > 500hz + 144hz aiming wise. Now you decide. 500hz polling on 240hz monitor is really bad from my experience. But inconsistent 1000hz at 240hz obliterate anything else.

While I respect 500Hz poll rate may occasionally better than 1000Hz for certain things due to sensor limitations and some eSports tuning... There's been enough bad 1000Hz to make well-tuned 500Hz a good niche, the feel can certainly be better in some very specific (increasingly rarer) use cases. But unless you're playing that (now rare) game that's completely incapable of good mousefeel with 1000Hz mice... for reluctant manufactures, it is now time to move on...

...At 240Hz, you really need a mouse sensor capable of really good 1000Hz.

Mouse poll aliasing with refresh rate can get noticeably more granular the close the poll rate reaches refresh rate. You start getting enough disadvantages of 500Hz in order to consider trying 1000Hz or persuading a mouse manufacturer to include 1000Hz support.

1000Hz capability has greatly improved in many models of mice now.

I'm not aware of the reasoning behind the claim that "500Hz is better for aiming." 1000Hz is objectively better for aiming compared to 500Hz.

Next time someone tells you that 500Hz is better, you should ask them why. Maybe it really is better. But there ought to be a reason for it, no? :)

This "500hz is better for aiming than 1000hz" came up years ago when mice had TERRIBLE 1000hz polling. The original deathadder V2 came to mind.

Because of that, all the CS people (I won't call them kiddies anymore, everyone grows up) keep following blind facts even though it simply doesn't apply unless your mouse is just awful.

Logitech 3366 has excellent 1000hz. I do not know about Hero sensor used in that MX518 revamp or on G305 or whatever its called.

OP is using Zowie. Zowie is just bad.

Oh wow, that was way back then! And that was only 3500dpi, not good at its max. There are also now 16,000dpi sensors (sixteen thousand dots per inch), and just merely setting to 3200dpi (one fifth) feels much more accurate on them compared to the original 3500dpi sensors.
