This is without a doubt one of the top competitive gaming monitors. Probably only the BenQ ones are comparable (just a guess).

The upcoming MSI NXG251 is expected to be even better, but it certainly won't be available for 339  when it comes out, so congrats! That's a really good price for this monitor right now. Glad you're enjoying it.

Yeah the MSI with 0,5 reponse time might be great for fast paced gaming too!

Yes I think 459€ was too much for a 24 inch 1080p 240hz FreeSync monitor, but at 339€ it was worth it, pretty happy about it. Can´t really say 339€ is a cheap monitor, but compared to even many 144hz models going for 250€-300€ price mark, this wasn´t bad at all!

I can see this monitor being popular at pro gamers due to its responsiveness!

Do you have one aswell?

Actually the MSI is on Bestbuy right now for $349.

Wich should translate to 450€ in Europe, as usual :D Still, it should be an amazing monitor, no doubts! But I´m good at 24 inches, and would even prefer 22 or 23, I like smaller screens :)

The pg258q is asus and has standard contrast of within 1% of 1000:1 for all but the lowest 2 brightness settings

Yes the PG258Q actually had surprisingly good contrast for Asus standards on TN panels! I can confirm that as I had one. But that´s a Gsync monitor, and usually Gsync monitors have the best panel samples do I don´t know if that has something to do with it.

I can´t reccomend this Asus XG248Q for people that care about image quality/fidelity. Only for pure gamers searching for the fastests pixel response time experience, fastest native refresh rate and lowest input lag. The first gen 240hz monitors were superior on contrast and colours compared to this model. But I don´t think someone buys 240hz monitors for image fidelity anyway.

Nope. But one of my buddies has one and I tried it at his home and was pleasantly surprised. To be honest I'm not much of a competitive gamer anymore, which is why my CRT is sitting in the basement. :D For me nothing beats a good CRT, but this ASUS monitor seems to be as close as you can get to a good CRT at the moment, and more enjoyable, too.

AFAIK, no one has confirmed that the NXG251R is the same as the NXG251. And that Bestbuy price does not include taxes. In Europe, the prices include taxes and there's a tendency to go with $1 = 1€ for new products, which isn't true. There's also a price disparity between the European countries, because of differences in tax percentages, logistics, or both.

Almighty CRTs!! Sadly the mail taxes alone would exceed 100€ for my country :D This Asus XG248Q is basically as close as it can get to a CRT experience on a LCD while having lower power consumption and ofc I gain a load of table space ahah

I exchanged two of these, and while I loved the performance, they both had horrid clouding and I got my money back:

And there is another user reporting same issue on the same thread I posted my image. I guess if doesn't bother you, it's a solid monitor, but for me, no way in hell I was keeping that, as most of the games I play have a lot of dark areas. Even in non-dark games, I could see the clouding streaks with hard edges in greyish content. It's the worst I've ever seen and I've been through a ton of monitor over the years. Just be warned for those looking into getting this monitor.

So far I've tested the Alienware 240hz G-Sync, Acer 240hz, the new 23.8" Asus 240hz, and LG 240hz. The best so far that I've had is the LG, that I'm likely going to be keeping. The rest have all been returned. I hated the idea of 27" 1080p, but I was pleasantly surprised with the LG, it's really dam nice. I'm likely going to be ordering the newer MSI, as $350 is a much more reasonable in price, especially with g-sync and the 23.8" asus launched at $350 with no g-sync. When I first posted the bestbuy link, it was $500. :o
