i want to buy for my son one TN monitor for 1080P . the budget that i give is 400 euros max

i could give more money for to buy one ips monitor but the reasons why i dont want to spend a lot of money is because 1440p need more often upgrade tha 1080P

you need in 1440p to update very often the gpu card

i found 1 monitor for gaming but i dont know if it is good https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...- ... 9t-as.html

when this monitor released?is very old panel?

is this monitor very good for gaming and for 1080P;

what choices i have in TN panels in that budget? also do you believe that the newest TN panels like this monitor has better colors from some TN panels which released before 2 and 3 years?

because alot of people say that TN panels doest have good colors for gaming.

Most people what prefer 1080P or 1440P for gaming? because i know that 1440p is very good but it costs alot and you need every time to upgrade in new gpus

i dont know what opinion you have for the 1440P. do you believe that 1080P is dead? that most people dont prefer anymore to play games in 1440P?

The link does not work.

Can you please go back to the original page, and then link from the URL bar instead of the middle of webpage? (The URL is corrupted by an ellipsis shortening)

Do you know what GPU your son uses? AMD Radeon or NVIDIA GeForce? How powerful is it?

This is important because variable refresh rate capability (FreeSync, GSYNC) can make 1440p look good while only needing the GPU horsepower of 1080p.

RTX 2080? That's one powerful card.

Your son will have no problem with 1440p even with a 4770k. It may be somewhat of an older CPU but what happens is that the framerate of 1080p becomes almost identical at 1440p, if the CPU is the bottleneck. Which is a very good thing -- you don't get the dramatic drop of framerate like you'd get with an inferior GPU.

Historically, people panned TN because of bad color quality but TN known as "very fast pixels but poor color quality". That's why people loved TN because TN is very, very, very fast.

Color quality wise, TN varies all over the place. The best TN panels can have better colors than the worst IPS now. The viewing angles will still sometimes be so-so, and not good for Photoshop or color-critical work due to that. But, for gaming, the best most colorful TN panels are a pleasure to use. Feasting my eyes on a really good TN sometimes I cannot tell it's IPS, until I'm closer than three feet, or leaning above/below (bad viewing angle may not matter for a solo player sitting squarely in front).

Both 1080p and 1440p are good resolutions. But an RTX 2080 is a Ferrari that deserves 1440p if possible.

If your son is not earning money playing games (e.g. eSports championships & competitions) the nuances of 24" versus 27" is overblown matter. If your son is a computer programmer that writes lots of code, lean 1440p. If your son is vision impaired and wears eyeglasses, lean 27" of any resolution. If your son is not picky, lean 1440p 27" for maximum wow.

But yes, 1440p 27" can get quite expensive. However, now that NVIDIA supports FreeSync monitors, your options has just expanded. Since you're kind of worried about spending money, check out List of FreeSync Monitors for some cheaper options.

The VG278Q is a pretty fine option, vastly superior to probably what's currently sitting on your son's desk. It's reasonably priced at under 300 quid in UK, but at only 1080p at only 144Hz, your son will be turning on all the lovely RTX ray tracing features to grind the framerates to within the 144Hz range of 1080p. That said, gaining the choice to go higher resolution would be a great thing to have.

Now, if your son wants to push the resolution or framerates, there's enough horsepower in an RTX 2080 to easily run circles around 1440p. For another 60 to 100 more quid, it's possible to go 1440p 144Hz FreeSync. Here's two more choices: Acer XG270HU (365 quid) in a fancy metallic red case. And there's also the Dell S2719DGF (399 quid) .... that's 1440p for only a few quid more! Your son's 2080 can handle that, no problemo. Look at the customer star ratings.... 4.5 stars for the XG270HU. It's a bit older, but still a good inexpensive 1440p VRR monitor.

If your son does Photoshop or color critical work, then the recommendation may change to those more expensive 165Hz IPS monitors...Sticker shock of twice the price in some cases!

P.S. Once you surprise your son, don't forget to tell your son that NVIDIA "G-SYNC Compatible" feature now supports FreeSync monitors with the new driver -- if you're not able to afford a higher-end GSYNC monitor.

RTX 2070 is good for 1440p too, so you get something like a Dell S2417DG (it has G-Sync) if you can find a good deal for it. I myself am using a GTX 980 Ti with a 1440p display and it's OK. The 2070 is a faster GPU so I don't expect any issues at 1440p.But it's 24" mind you.

If you still prefer 27", then 1440p is going to blow your budget (like the Dell S2716DG(R)). So the VG278Q might be the best for you. It's also certified as "G-Sync compatible" even though it's Freesync, so it might work fine with g-sync enabled. 1080p at 27" is going to look a bit grainy, but that's fine for games and movies. The desktop will suffer a bit from the low DPI.
