Can't decide between Benq and Eizo
Re: Can't decide between Benq and Eizo
Sure. Amazon.de has the XL2420Z for 299€ at the moment, but that's only today (Friday). Usually it's 369€. They had the 2720Z down to 379€ from 449€ yesterday. The day before it was the 2411Z at 239€. They launched a new PC-Gaming department on monday so they have a few related items on sale everyday (and only on that day). They reduced the Eizo from 499€ to 449€ for the whole duration though so I'm not sure if they will put him on a daily sale as well later.
Re: Can't decide between Benq and Eizo
You're welcome.
So I ordered the XL2420Z today for 299 and just found out that the Eizo will go on sale tomorrow for 379. Now I have no idea what to do again, because that is a really good price for the Eizo. And considering that the Benq will most likely be a V1 and I have no easy way to update it to V2 I think I'm going to return the Benq and get the Eizo.
Haste, you have the Eizo right? Do you like it?

Re: Can't decide between Benq and Eizo
I have none of these. But if I can give you my opinion.
The BenQ if you mainly play competitive fast paced games.
The Eizo for a more versatile display that you can use to watch movies with nice deep blacks.
Since you said you're gonna play cs:go competitively, I would tend to say go with the BenQ.

Re: Can't decide between Benq and Eizo
Yeah that's what everyone says. But what makes the Benq better at competetive games other than the slightly lower input lag? Because I wouldn't mind some better colors and contrast even in CS:GO and I'm not sure I'd notice the higher input lag.
Re: Can't decide between Benq and Eizo
Well the advantage of the BenQ strobe is that it can go up to 144Hz (120hz for Eizo)
Also the persistence can go as low as 0.5 milliseconds.
And Eizo's turbo 240 has that counter-productive way of strobing 2 times per refresh which is just adding a double image.
So for the best motion clarity and lowest input lag, the BenQ should be the winner.
But the Eizo will have way more satisfying deep blacks with its VA panel.
I would wait for a little more feedback from Mark if you're still unsure. He has both displays and he knows his stuffs.
btw aren't you worried you might get a V1 firmware if you buy the BenQ from Amazon?

Re: Can't decide between Benq and Eizo
I'd gladly take more advice but I'm not sure what else he can add, it's driving me crazy.
Yes, it'll probably be a V1 but I don't really have a choice. It's 80€ cheaper and also afaik there is no way to get a guaranteed V2 in Europe atm. But I'm not going to spend more money just to get that MSTAR tool either, really sad on Benqs part. This whole firmware fiasco doesn't make my decision easier...

Re: Can't decide between Benq and Eizo
So I got the 2420Z today and it's a V1 as expected. I'm using the calibrated settings from tftcentral but color/IQ wise it's similar to my old 60hz TN. 120hz/144hz does look and feel very nice though.
Now I'm still not sure what to do. The Eizo is 379€ until midnight. I could get it too and compare but I don't really want to go through the hassle of having to send back one of them later. Yet the better IQ is nagging me in the back of my mind. Also I'm a bit dissapointed of Benq because I have no easy way of upgrading to V2 and seeing what the BlurReduction could really look like. What do I do.......

Re: Can't decide between Benq and Eizo
go read (these forums) reviews on the BlurBusters Utility for the V2, they all say it's amazing and feels like a new monitor. If I were you I wouldn't compare the Eizo with your current XL2420Z V1, but with a V2 one.gamma wrote:So I got the 2420Z today and it's a V1 as expected. You're saying you have no 'easy way' t upgrade to V2, but I can't see how so, you can buy the piece if you don't feel like making one o-o
Re: Can't decide between Benq and Eizo
Yeah, I realize that V2 is a large improvement but I don't feel like spending another $60 on something that I'm only gonna use once and for something that is basically the manufacturers fault. I don't have the tools to build it myself.
