cant figure out what monitor to buy

Post by monitorsdrivemecrazy » 06 Apr 2014, 09:24

i was going to buy the BENQ XL2420Z but when i read about the blur reduction failure and how i'm suppose to fix that i didnt want to buy it anymore.
i'm playing mmorpg mostely i used to play world of warcraft on a ips cuz the combat was slow but now with games like wildstar you need to dodge and aim, so a fast monitor would be better imo
is there a monitor that is fast and good looking like a ips monitors.

this is my pc(soon):
Intel Core i7 4770K / 3.5 GHz
Asus Maximus VI Hero
EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Classified
Corsair Vengeance Pro Series 16gb 1866 mhz
Corsair AX760

edit: is it worth it buying the BENQ XL2420Z without using the motion blur reduction?

Imo your finger is too light on the trigger.
So what if it requires a little extra work? It's worth it, because no, it's not worth buying this monitor without the Blur Reduction.
You can read reviews of this utility, here as well - http://forums.blurbusters.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=471
It feels like an entirely new screen, and makes a huge difference.

You have the option to buy this monitor straight off of BENQ.com, because the firmware there is already v2.
That is what I personally intend to do; I'm going for the 20Z V2 (BENQ.com, and I live in ISRAEL, which means I'm going to pay roughly 540$ delivery and taxes and everything included, using some service site that allows us to buy items from US sites that don't do international shipping), and also it's going to take ~2 months to arrive (because air-shipping is gonna cost me an extra ~77$ or so), so I'm sure your options are much better than mine, and I still plan to do so.

How much does the 20Z cost over there?
Is it the extra investment on the piece that makes you not want it? (the piece to upgrade the monitor costs 42$, delivery not included, but there is a market thread to sell and buy this piece at a cheaper cost). If the work itself is the thing that scares you - you shouldn't hesitate to buy the V1 and manually upgrade the firmware; it's only a matter of connecting the piece and then doing a few simple tasks. The monitor upgrades itself (using the software and the connected piece, obviously) - you don't need any previous knowledge or experience.
