I have a 24GL600F. I can read the street names on your link at 600-720 pixels/sec. 144hz.

Without backlight strobing? That's actually pretty good, at least compared with the VX2458-mhd at 60Hz (240 pixels/sec; maybe 360). Maybe at 144Hz it can get same results.ogchampion wrote:I have a 24GL600F. I can read the street names on your link at 600-720 pixels/sec. 144hz.
I'll try to find reviews to see if i can like it .
Thank you very much for testing it for me .

It's by far my favorite monitor for FPS gaming.

Hi. First of all I'd like to thank you because I have been trying to resolve my frustrating gaming experience for ions now to no avail, until I accidentally came across your suggestion in the quote above. In fact I tried limiting the frame rate before, but always at 143fps (I have an XG2402, hence I'm here:). However it didn't give the results that 138fps gives me now, i.e. butter smooth stutter free experience. It would never have occured to me to use what appears to me to be a random number, but it works. So once again: THANK YOU!Notty_PT wrote: ↑31 May 2019, 12:42This is my opinion and my personal view on the subject. But basically stick to either XG2402 or 24GL600F, you will buy a great monitor either way. Just make sure you cap your games to 138fps, be it internally or using RTSS, for optimal experience. having a framerate higher than the refresh rate induces stutter and bad image quality on fast movements, wich can affect your experience and your eyes.
Cheers!
Now that it looks like I have found a solution to a problem that was ruining my enjoyment of playing fps games I would really like to know why/how it works? I mean why did 138 work for me and 143 didn't? Also, I have friends who don't limit fps at all and have a butter smooth experience without stutters applying various frame limiter settings including 200fps caps, 300fps caps, uncapped fps, default everything etc.etc.etc. while using mostly very similar PCs and 144Hz monitors as mine. What gives?
Main reason I wish to know is so I can apply the same principle in the future when I upgrade to a 240Hz monitor and a faster PC etc. (I only really play 2 games: BF4 and Apex Legends...although I've had the same bad micro stutter experience in every fps game I've tried including CoD) In addition I absolutely loathe VRR or any kind of vsync because even small input lag is really annoying to me.
Re: Is the XG2402 the best 144Hz monitor for games?
I had this monitor, I used it without free sync. The most interesting thing, but I found a way to reduce the input lag on it - 1:1 mode in the monitor menu. It reduced input lag a lot, and it doesn't feel like a placebo. Try this mode. Perhaps with free sync (gsync) this will also make the input lag reduced.

I had the XG2402 before upgrading to the VG259QM.
I really liked my XG2402, I used to cap at 138fps with Freesync with OD Fast/Fastest, color reproduction was extremely good for being a TN, motion clarity was great and the input lag was negligible.

There will always be stutter/tearing when framerate ≠ refresh rate.Zveki wrote: ↑02 Oct 2020, 13:43Hi. 143 fps cap will give you 1 tear/stutter per second on a 144hz monitor
138 fps cap will give you 6 stutters/tears a second
in your case 138fps cap works better because 1 stutter per second is more noticeable to you
tearing is less noticeable the higher the refresh rate
Im on 240hz and I use a 200fps cap most of the time, its perfectly smooth and tearing is unnoticeable 99% of the time
I play bf4 as well and its my main game atm, operation locker most of the time
are you NA?
