XL2411P or 24GM79G-B?

Post by Coverdrave » 11 Jun 2019, 03:20

Hello, I cannot pick between those 2 monitors. I was considering the XG2402 too, but it is too expensive in my country for some reason, so I'm left with those two. I mainly play competitive shooters such as CS:GO, but I am of course going to play modern singleplayer games and I'm okay with dropping settings for 144hz. So basically it is better motion blur reduction or FreeSync, a bit better colors and speakers. How does the 24GM79G-B's motion blur reduction compare to the XL2411P's?

The XL2411P is much more tweakable and can surpass the 24GM79G-B.

If you want more tweaking with motion blur reduction mode than simply an ON/OFF setting, the XL2411P is superior in every single way:

The XL2411P:
(A) supports our Blur Busters Strobe Utility
(B) supports dramatic reductions in strobe crosstalk (and slight reduction in strobe lag) via Large Vertical Totals
(C) supports 60Hz strobing with PlayStation and XBox consoles

Unadvertised, but XL2411P supports ~0.25ms MPRT at minimum strobe pulse widths, although it is a rather severe brightness-vs-clarity tradeoff. However, the great thing is that you can choose how low MPRT you want, simply via adjusting the "Persistence" (Pulse Width) setting.

However, this is simply my (partially biased) assessment, since BenQ added support for third party strobe tuning utilities (a first by any manufacturer!) and the XL2411P is the most strobe-tunable 144Hz 1080p monitor on the market today.

Nontheless, the LG monitor does come cheap in some countries and is a great buy too if blur reduction tweaking is less of a priority.

Thank you. Also I forgot to ask, how smooth is Scanline-Sync compared to FreeSync for 144hz? Is it a good option to use for singleplayer games?

I personally have a XG2402 and it's unrivaled for FPS (I play CS and Overwatch). I've tried the XL2411P and it's also good, but personally I like the consistency of the XG2402.

It's out of my budget sadly, but how does motion blur feel like compared to the XL2411P?
