Monitor battle

Post by rootsoft » 19 Jun 2019, 09:37

Good morning Blur Busters!

I haven't post in a while, but I come around every now and then to read news and see what is going on. I would like to shout out the Chief Blur Buster and Notty_PT for some real good posts/threads. Sorry, If I'm missing someone.

I have questions about two monitors and I need some advise pulling the trigger on the right one.

https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-Response-Eq ... way&sr=8-1

I have been looking at the BenQ due to the DyAc technology. So far it looks like it has everything I want.

Three questions:

Does the Asus have a similar DyAc technology or better?

If I'm only able to get 150fps running the monitors at 240hz would I see any input lag vs running it 150fps at 144hz on the same screen?

Should I wait for a new monitor release?

Thank you in advance!

If Dyac sounds good to you, you don´t have anything close on the Asus PG258Q. The main PG258Q advantage is having a Gsync module and variable overdrive. Probably the 240hz monitor with the best overdrive after the Asus XG248Q. Altho PG258Q can show other strange image artifacts wich I don´t have a technical term for. It also has higher input lag than what I would look on for on a 240hz monitor.

Asus XG248Q has strobing at 240hz too, but I don´t think it is as good as Dyac, altho strobing is not something I know a lot about, because my eyes can´t keep up with flicker.

No problem, we are happy to help. Be aware that on Benq, if you reduce the contrast to really low values, you can get rid of most of the overdrive/inverse ghosting problems. Tell us how it goes once you get it :)

The BenQ monitor is solid and I could tell the difference between my old MSI 144hz. I really disliked the screen outside of gaming(colors etc), but for ONLY gaming this is a great performer. I returned it because I really couldn't live with spending $500 on it now. I will wait a little bit longer for perhaps a newer version.
