Best 240hz vrr overdrive monitor?

Post by JimmyJimmyBTM » 12 Aug 2019, 08:16

Hey,

I'm new here but have been a long time stalker.
I've finally decided to get a 240hz monitor but I'm afraid that it will look worse than my 144hz at lower fps because of the vrr overdrive settings.
I know that 240hz at 240fps is great but a lot of monitors look worse at 100-144 fps on a 240hz compared to 100-144 fps on a 144hz screen.

After reading a bit I think it is because of the vrr overdrive and so I was wondering what monitor is the best 240hz monitor when you use a variable sync technology and also game on around 140 fps.

My pc has a 9700k and a 1080 ti so games like overwatch are fine and Rainbow Six Siege gets around 200+ fps.
But apex legends has 100-144+ fps and a lot of new games will probably not hit 200+ fps.

TLDR:
if I game on around 140 fps using variably sync what 240hz monitor will have the best quality?

For best VRR overdrive, get either a:
- G-SYNC native monitor. Sometime one just has to pony up the premium if you hate VRR overdrive ghosting/coronas.
- FreeSync monitor that is also certified by NVIDIA as G-SYNC Compatible. Those often have less bad VRR overdrive.

It may not solve 100% but making sure you do this, can most of the VRR overdrive problem.

Which 240Hz monitor did you purchase?

Hey, thanks for your expertise!

I haven't bought one yet, still using my old xl2411z.
The monitor that I want to buy is the acer xf252q or the omen x 25f(or gsync version since that will have better vrr overdrive)
But both of these monitors are not available in the Netherlands.

What gsync or compatible monitor do you recommend that is similar to the xf252q? Or maybe I should just import the acer xf?

Thanks!

Is there a difference between the XN253QX and the XF252Q? And specific VRR Overdrive wise? when u have a NVIDIA Asus ROG STRIX-GTX1080-A8G-GAMING GPU?
| Now: ASUS PG248QP 540Hz. | Past : VG259QM with the Qisda panel/PG27AQN/XL2566K
