Hey everyone, upgrading from VG248QE and struggling to decide between these two. They both seem to be very similar in terms of response rate, and both are 240hz. The XF252Q supports black frame insertion, I'm not sure if this is something I'll be making use of though.
Budget and picture quality are not issues for me, I play an aim trainer as my main game and am willing to splash some $$$ on getting the best monitor available for my needs (lowest input lag, fastest response rate and least motion blur).
I was considering doing the Zisworks 480hz mod but I don't think the supported monitors will suit my needs.
Any info regarding these monitors or potentially competing ones that I'm not aware of, is greatly appreciated. And don't be afraid to get technical!
Thanks in advance.

Re: Nitro XF252Q vs Omen X 25(F?)
Any reasoning for this? I've been told XF252Q has better motion clarity and Omen X 25F has lower input lag, although I'm not sure how reliable that information is.
Re: Nitro XF252Q vs Omen X 25F
I've to make the same decision. Biggest downside: Omen X 25f is missing a BFI feature. The G-Sync model Omen X 25 will cost 30% more (it is 550 Euro in Germany) which is a waaaaay to expensive. In comparison the XF252Q has the BFI feature available independent of your graphics card. I would buy the XF252Q to test it, but it's not available in my region.
BTW there's a new review out https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/ ... tro-xf252q
Manufacturer usually cherry pick samples which will be send to TFTCentral. Rtings buys them from retailers, so it is a nice opportunity to check out the panel lottery.

Re: Nitro XF252Q vs Omen X 25F
Acording to RTings the Acer has better motion clarity than the Omen. But they also state this:
"The Acer Nitro XF252Q has an outstanding response time, similar to other 240Hz monitors we've tested, like the HP OMEN X 25f and the BenQ Zowie XL2540. This results in extremely clear motion, with only a very short blur trail behind fast-moving objects, great for gaming. There is a bit more noticeable overshoot and undershoot than the OMEN X 25f, which can cause some noticeable artifacts, including halos around dark objects, but this shouldn't be very noticeable with most content."
This more noticeable overshoot and undershoot won't actually introduce more perceivable blur in the Acer???

Re: Nitro XF252Q vs Omen X 25F
In my opinion the Omen X 25f is still better because of generally lower input lag even with G-Sync. There is also no huge difference between both response times and on the pictures the Omen even looks a bit less blurry.
If you want pure gaming and dont need features like HDR and Motion Blur Reduction the choice should be clear.

By the way, you can get the Omen X 25 for 466 Euro from idealo.de. Possibly even for 400 Euro if you're fine ordering from Spain. The Acer is also available on there through eBay. I can recommend this site for anyone that looks to buy a monitor for the cheapest price.Tenobaal wrote:I've to make the same decision. Biggest downside: Omen X 25f is missing a BFI feature. I'm also torn between the Acer or Omen. Trying to find the best price in Germany too.
Re: Nitro XF252Q vs Omen X 25F
Am I correct in thinking that BFI only works at half refresh rate? Because to insert a black frame between each normal frame at 240hz would require the monitor to be capable of 480hz. And sacrificing half of my refresh rate for BFI isn't something I'd do, because it's increasing input lag yeah?
Additionally, if the XF252Q can strobe at 240hz we get motion blur reduction with no downside right?

Re: Nitro XF252Q vs Omen X 25F
According to the RTINGS review it does work up to 240Hz, but with increased input lag.Cryoxic wrote:Am I correct in thinking that BFI only works at half refresh rate? Hmm, could this potentially mean anything in terms of modding or overclocking to 480hz?Rowdy wrote:According to the RTINGS review it does work up to 240Hz, but with increased input lag.
