About a week ago I went to my local Best Buy just to check out the HP Omen X 25f. They had one on display and it seemed like a well built piece of hardware, but at $449 it turned me away. Yesterday I was out and about doing a few things and I decided on a whim to stop back and ask about their return policy just in-case I wanted to give it a test run. The first thing I noticed was the price dropped to $329. It was $120 off the original price
I'm coming from an Asus VG248QE that I've had since flat panels came out. While it was a fast monitor, the HP Omen X 25f is obviously faster but I want to make sure it's using the latest panel, among a few other things like, make sure it's the best of the best right now, how to set it up properly, register it, etc.
I did set it Level 3 according to RTings "Best Overdrive Setting" and that's about as far as I got. I don't use G-sync or FreeSync just the standard 240Hz refresh rate.
What else do I need to do?
Bought the HP Omen X 25f

What are you actually asking? How to set up NCP?
Re: Bought the HP Omen X 25f
There's no official statement about the panel used. Some rumours say it is the latest and some decline that. I went with Acer xn253qx because there was a review.

I'm curious if I need to register the monitor. If anything needs adjustments. What's NCP?TTT wrote:What are you actually asking? How to set up NCP?

You might as well use G-Sync with it since it has no drawback on input lag.

Just figure out the colour settings you like, the Lagom.NL pages are pretty helpful for self calibration.
Try out Gsync, on a 240hz you can't see screen tearing anyway but Gsync adds a different smooth feeling and makes the motion different.

How do I do Gsync on this monitor? Thought it was Freesync supported but Gsync unofficially supportedTTT wrote:Nvidia Control Panel.BTRY B 529th FA BN wrote:I'm curious if I need to register the monitor. If anything needs adjustments. I must have something configured wrong cause I don't see it anywhere. I've looked through the 3D settings, Display, and Video, on the NCP.TTT wrote:BTRY B 529th FA BN wrote:TTT wrote:Its just under nvidia control panel, gsync tick box.
I use NV Slimmer and just install the required features + PhysX. I've also disabled the ... OK found it mid way through this post. I had the 'Adaptive-Sync' disabled via the monitor. Turned it on and it showed up in the NCP.
