Best 27 inch 144-180hz TN Panel monitor?

Post by chis » 17 Nov 2019, 02:24

Hello there

Coming from the old Asus VG248QE I was eager to upgrade to the BenQ Zowie XL2740 but after reading through this forum for hours I realized it's not what I need. My main game doesn't even support framerates higher than 160ish or so and in other games, I probably wouldn't be able to maintain consistent 240 frames.

So, back to square one.
Is there any 27inch monitor that stands above the rest? It would make my life easier
I'm also unsure now if it's worth the upgrade coming from a 144hz already but I'd imagine the modern motion blur reduction techniques are a deal breaker.

You can use a lower refresh rate than 240hz. The Benq's are pretty good at custom refresh rates (and vertical total tweaking at lower refresh rates for strobing crosstalk reduction too!).

Also remember the XL2740 is "Gsync compatible". I'm not sure if the XL2540 or XL2546 are or not (not even sure if the XL2546 can do freesync; the XL2540 can).

I have the XL2540, it's "Gsync compatible"

IMO, the blur reduction is way better for playing games that can actually output 240fps, though... I wonder how much better the XL2546's blur reduction is.

Do you think it performs as well at 160hz as opposed to 240? Like NDUS mentioned, I have read a lot of negative reviews when it comes to that. eg: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4914
