Yes, in the interim, FontChanger is one possible
Chrome browser extension.
It's possible to install this on the new Microsoft Edge browser (Chrome-based version), from the Chrome store,
using these instructions.

On Firefox i saw FontARA add-on.

You can upload fonts from PC also, not only online sources.
But eye at permissions:
1) Read data of all web pages !
2) Browser Tabs Access
I suppose is necessary permissions, but i recommend disable it during logins, when browse OnlineBank, Shops, ... is open source, but don't know if is well audited, only 850 users.
