Knowledge needed (movies on monitor)

Post by goodboy84h » 10 Dec 2019, 08:32

Hello,

I was wondering why when I play 30fps movies on my 60Hz monitor, or when I play games with 30fps limit it felt ... strange.

In movies (both 24fps and 30fps) I could feel vibration-like effect when the scene is moving (e.g. in GoT S02E01 around 4:50 minutes where Tyrion is joining, the judder is felt on audience faces having the sky in background)

Tearing does not bother me much, so I decided to not limit games fps. But for movies I had no clue.

On this link, in the section "Persistence During Low Frame Rates" I feel 60fps smooth, 30 fps same judder (is it called judder or something else?) as above in games & movies, 15 fps disastrous judder
https://www.blurbusters.com/blur-buster ... -and-hold/
It says that:
Blur Busters Law still applies, except motion blur size is the stutter vibration amplitude instead.
Low frame rates such as 15fps (whether be 15Hz, 30Hz, 60Hz or 120Hz sample-and-hold) will noticeably stutter.
Reading from other materials too from this website, what I understand is that 30fps movie content will always judder, even if I buy a 120 Hz monitor and play on it ... is it correct? This leads to my worry, what is the correct solution to watch 24p and 30p movies on a computer?
