Nvidia driver 441.87 max frame rate setting not working as intended

Post by soupman815 » 08 Jan 2020, 23:06

Hi there,

I have updated my nvidia driver to the latest 441.87 yesterday and tried out the Max frame rate setting and it was working perfectly. I had it set to 144 and it was capping all my games at that framerate.

However, after I booted up my pc again today, it was limiting my framerate at roughly 10 below the setting. So if I had it set at 144, I would only get ~133 fps. This was again, consistently acrosss all games (sc2/wow are the two games I tested it on).

My monitor is BENQ XL2420Z, running a i7 9700K and rtx 2070 super. This is not a GSYNC monitor so I don't even have that setting in my nvidia control panel. My max framerate in these games can hit up to 300, which forces the GPU to make quite a bit of noise.

After reading forum posts all morning, I am unable to find a solution to this problem and at this point I am all out of ideas, any help here would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

I've heard another person have the same issue. Sounds like a bug in the limiter.

I assume disabling the limiter, exiting the NVCP, and then enabling it again doesn't help?

Yeah unfortunately none of the 'trial and error' methods work.. could be a bug?

Most probably, yes. Bug.
