Yes, while the venn diagram overlaps, there's certain preferences for TN behaviours of the newer TN panels.

Those champions that earn enough money to buy a house, definitely have to cherrypick -- even down to single-digit milliseconds and things like monitor-help features (boosting shadows, or using excess overdrive as a tracer-like motion alerting feature)

This is part of why I am sometimes frustrated at manufacturers for not providing a 128-level overdrive gain slider.
--> Some users prefer no overdrive at all (care less about IPS ghosting, their vision is super-sensitive to coronas)
--> Freezing homes (artic) will slow pixel response, requiring slightly higher overdrive
--> Hot homes (tropics) will speed pixel response, requiring slightly less overdrive
--> Some users have a preference to faster pixel response with slight coronas
--> Some users want super-excess blatant overdrive (BenQ AMA Premium) because it's like a tracer-bullet assist feature (enemy moves; it suddenly glows like a christmas tree thanks to ovedrive)

I did some OD-gain tests on the XG270 (during calibration, I had temporary access to 128-level overdrive commonly found in scalers/TCON) and I was able to make the IPS glow like a christmas tree almost like a BenQ AMA, at least at slightly lower refresh rates such as 224Hz. The ghosting completely disappeared but the panel was glowy like BenQ AMA. Not sure how fast it will feel to an esports player because of the shockingly disparate preferences (which I respect).

However, manufacturers typically do not want to do this, most just want to offer a piddly 3 or 4 or 5 adjustments for Overdrive.

This is a completely separate topic altogether, but I will probably be posting a new Blur Busters article to bring attention that the monitor manufacturing world needs to move to Overslide Sliders (an adjustment bar similar to Brightness and Contrast)

i see some people here arguing about 25 vs 27 inch 1080P i currently have a 22 inch 1080P and im thinking if i want my next monitor to be 25 (xl2546S)or 27 inch(XG270).. I have to move it pretty close to my face to really enjoy it. If i had 27 inch 1080P, and i moved it farther away.. wouldnt the pixel density feel similar anyway? I'd rather have it farther away anyway. If you have 27 inch vs 25 inch 1080P, and the pixel density bothers you, can't you just move it away from yourself 1-3 inches? am i missing something?

Nope you’re not missing anything because all you have to do is move the 27” panel 2” back to get the same optimal view as a 25” that’s 2” closer at 1080p. The difference in dpi is so small that it’s not even worth talking about and IMO makes the 27” a no brainer unless one has very limited desk space.

Personally, 1080p at 25" is the limit for me, but to each their own.

If I went 27" I'd want at least 1440p for the higher res image on desktop.

I don't like my Windows UI to be so big.

But if the table is enought deep, monitor can be moved back, and have the same feel that 25" closer.

At correct distance, both screen sizes can cover exactly the same FOV (Field of View), both have the same pixel size (1080 at the same FOV), and the effect of shift color and contrast at viewing angles also the same, because FOV is not increased, same horizontal and vertical angles to screen edges.

Moreover, see the monitor at more distance has one health advantage, to focus screen less eyes angle is needed = less eye strain.

Also take note, that big pixels are less propense to die or stuck, out of the box and during years of use, mainly because microwires that transport electricity are a bit bigger, more probabilities to have 0 pixel issues. Microwires material quality and manufacturer precision do the rest.

The cons that can't be fixed Vs 25" are price and power comsuption. But buyers not always prioritize these, in my opinion eyes health is the priority.

imho 25 inch is practicle just if you are space constrained in a basement or in a lan tourney.

for home 27'' is the sweet spot be it 1440p or 1080p , especially if you have multiple monitor or OLED TV to accomodate various use case.

The UI will look exactly the same as will everything else when it's 2" further back. Except as a trade off you get less eye fatigue.

How is enemy spotting at a greater distance in games with large maps like BF, Pubg on Apex on 27 inch 1080p? Is it any harder, easier or same compared to 24inch 1080p?

I had a kd25f monitor that I bought and returned because it made spotting more difficult, especially at distances.

i mean its the same just move it away or clloser then the two sizes are the same
